Hardly a good application of the Meme Tamada, but I see where you're coming from. In terms of calculation for war, if all other diplomatic attempts fail, then you'd better believe that my Marines will be "first to fight", and we will release a firestorm that will put the fear of God in our enemy. That is of course, if the politicians will allow us to do our job. The former Commandant of the Marine Corps and our hero, Chesty Puller, once said about the Vietnam war...I could put my Marines on the DMZ and march them south, and we could win this war in 30 days (or something like that). As it turned out we left the war with our tail between our legs, all because of scumbag wimpy politicians like Joe Biden who doesn't have a backbone. If and when he becomes our Commander in Chief, I don't know one military man that has any respect for him and would be proud to fight for him. I understand that he is already talking about disbanding my beloved Corps. He would love to cut back our forces so that his beloved China could come in and take over. It's only a matter of time under a Democrat, Socialist, Marxist, Communist administration.
Nixon's belated Vietnamization was a failure and resulted in that nation's inevitable fall to the Communists and glorious and ultimately fruitful national reunification.

George W. Bush's Iraq and Afghan adventures have been a similarly resounding success in totally unsustainable divide and conquer manipulation of elections masquerading as diplomacy.

Donald Trump's capitulation to Moscow and the retraction and downsizing in Syria in particular and the middle east in general.

That's three Republican presidents that I recall as having a really good handle on foreign misadventures.

I hadn't read about Bidens' plans to cull the Marines. I did a quick Google search and could only find how defense budgets may need to be reviewed.

“Democratic candidate Joe Biden told Stars and Stripes he isn’t planning for major defense spending cuts and some areas may need to increase,” analyst Roman Schweizer, of Cowen Washington Research Group said in a letter to investors Friday. “We don’t see this as an ironclad campaign pledge, but we do see it as a sign that defense may be far less worse-off than many expect.”

https://www.defensenews.com/congress/20 ... me-anyway/

However, my internet meandering did bring up the 'fact' that apparently Obama did plan to dispense with the Marines some time during his second term.

"On a flight home I sat in between two individuals, a Marine and boxing promoter. The boxing guy was an older gentleman, and told interesting stories, such as meeting Don individual. Both men were very pleasant and that helped make time pass on the flight. We were all combat veterans and all Southerners, so we had a lot in common. Then the discussion, inevitably, turned to politics.

The older guy turned to the Marine and said "You know Obama is getting rid of the Marine Corps, right?"

The Marine was puzzled. He hadn't heard this news. Neither had I. "Yeah, Eric Holder just had a meeting with the Joint Chiefs. Obama is going to disband them by Executive Order. ...

We all parted ways and thanked each other for the talk. I told the Marine I'd see him on my flight back since there soon wouldn't be a base for him to go to. ...

Sure enough, I got back home and did some checking on the interwebs. Although I couldn't find anything about Obama disbanding the Corps, I did find a story that Obama was going to disband the National Guard and Reserves by fall of this year, a post that Hillary Clinton is, in fact, going to dismantle the Marine Corps, and various other hysteria/delusions in the mind of a brainwashed conservative.

I thought about the flight and wondered, how can such a seemingly intelligent, normal man suddenly suspend logic and spout such nonsense?
"

I'll let you read the whole, interesting, deplorable lefty thread. Get a mirror maybe? You sound so very much like the "puzzled" marine mentioned in the story.

My understanding is that members of the US armed forces swear allegiance to and the defence of the US Constitution. There's absolutely no mention about having to take one for whoever happens to be Country Manager at the time. Maybe the USMC's oath of allegiance differs but I doubt it.

OMG.

If you are not for Trump you are a Marxist? Plus being delusional about US superiorty.

A bit of reality here please, win the war in 30 days? What a crack-up. What happened in Okinawa, listed as one of the great wins for the marines in WW2. Over 184,000 US personel (including 88,000 marines) took 184 days to beat 66,000 Japanese. The US had overwhelming navy and air superiority. The Japs had no backup and were struggling for supplies It still took 184 days while outnumbering the Japanese 3:1.

The Marines were then, and still now, are only legends in their own minds.

Any TRUE military service member doesn't brag about accomplishments or their superiority or pat themselves on the back nor do they get involved in political b******* while serving.

Perhaps you would like to reconsider that last statement Ken, bearing in mind where we are and who is PM

I stand by it. I can't speak for other countries, or really my own country, only my personal beliefs on this matter. I know many of men who have served in combat, including relatives, and they don't talk about it.

Those who fought rarely speak about it, that is why here Expats who brag , I think they are re-inventing their sad miserable lives ( not all of them I know a few real ex-servicemen ) , but in all my life those who did do not speak .

^ Totally agree with that sentiment. From personal experience, we would never have known that a couple of our carousing bar buddies were still active Seal Team members if we hadn't broken them with a heavy beerboarding session.

The elite teams who do the most dangerous and taxing work like the SAS and other countries top ass kickers are selected for intelligence among other things and don’t talk unless forced, as they understand op sec.

As you go down the levels, the next don’t talk about what they can do because their deeds speak for themselves.

The lower down you go the greater the possibility of taking till you get to those who would never be accepted who are the most likely to be claiming how good they are.

Any one with any feelings will never suggest fighting first unless they have never been there and done that or have no chance of going there and doing that like never recruit Bone Spurs

I just love this forum. Girlie boys who have never served in the military trying to tell us all about the military and how Veterans are supposed to act, and people from other countries trying to pretend that they understand politics in the US and what's best for us. Unbelievable!
Colossians 2:8-10...See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, which are based on human tradition and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ. For in HIM dwells all the fullness of the GODHEAD bodily; and you are complete in HIM, who is the head of all principality and power.

Yep, you are a real man's man. I'm from the United States, I'm a veteran, and I somewhat understand politics, and I know what wasn't best for us, TRUMP.

Trump will never concede because he has no honor, no integrity, has never had to sacrifice anything in his life, and won't put the country before himself. That's your man semperfiguy.

Judging by the antics and rhetoric emanating from American including one or two on here, many Americans do not understand American Politics, but heyho, not to worry I am sure that eventually the penny will drop and you might get a Good Honest and Caring President , not in my life time . You had one but you then shot him. Not to worry 2nd time he/she might just live long enough to make a change.

Oh dear,

Girlie Boys! Do you think you are big Arnie now? 55

The US military is a joke, even the language they use is a joke

Friendly Fire - What is friendly about shooting, bombing and killing your own forces.
Collateral damage - We missed, but did manage to kill an innocent person or two or three
A vertical insertion of troops - paratroopers!

The last is my favorite, I woke up one morning in Texas, turned on the morning news to hear a Pentgon type exhort. 'This morning at 0500 hours there was a vertical insertion of troops on the island of Grenada'.

Winnie was half American, so unlikly he ever said this. Mother born in NY, both of her parents Yankees.

The quote is probably untrue, a variation of a statement by an Israeli politician who used the word 'exhausted' rather than 'tried'.

Zero evidence of the Yanks killing their own in 9/11 either, just another extreme conspiracy theory. Totally flys in the face of what we know about United Airlines Flight 93 where passengers spoke first hand to their loved ones on cell phones descibing Arab hijackers.

semperfiguy, off on a tangent again.

1. Seems all the current and retired military leaders (from what I can see and read) would rather have Biden then Trump in the WH. Would name a few, but as you made the statement I'll let you provide the list (pls no stories or assumptions, and would like to keep it at 07 and above ranks).

2. What fantasy news outlet did you read that Biden plans to disband the Marine Corps??
On military cut, haven't seen any promises to cut the military spending.....though it's highly possible with the
National Debt/Deficit (for which Trump added more than his fare share).
(can't let it pass, you have to be completely brainwashed to believe it (trying to be civil))

3. In 4 years Trump weakened US Security, don't think that's debatable. However, also don't think I can convince you of that..................as it's clear to see..................unless you blindly believe the Pro-Trump propaganda.

4. Lastly, most Marines I've met (both retired and active) would of cut ties with Trump after the "suckers and losers" comment. Nail in the coffin would of been Mattis' clear msg that Trump blows/sucks donkey dicks (figure, I'd use military terminology to help you understand it better).

5. On Vietnam and Chesty Pullers so called quote, "Chesty Puller, once said about the Vietnam war...I could put my Marines on the DMZ and march them south, and we could win this war in 30 days (or something like that).
Couldn't find this quote anywhere, also assume he'd march them North not South......are you sure the quote was from Chesty, not his son Lewis..........or was it the Korean War (still marching them North by the way).
Here's some facts to help you out.
Chesty retired in 1955
Chesty died in 1971 (so, possible he could made that statement while he was still alive..but can't find it)
Vietnam War 1961 - 1975
Nixon (Republican) was President during the troop widthdrawl.
Oh, will also state most senior Marines with their ---- together know all of Chesty Pullers quotes by heart.

Will he concede...>NEVER and it seems he is attempting to do as much damage as he can before he leaves so that lkater he can state look at the mess Biden is doing. The Man is a child and as such a dangerous cornered animal who needs to be curtailed before he does irreparable harm to the USA, but as many Americans seem to think he is wonderful, hopefully he will take a few of them as well into the sands of perpetual political history
