Despite faring worse than Theresa May did in her confidence vote, Boris Johnson calls the result "extremely good, positive, conclusive, decisive."

By uttering that obvious fantasy in public, it's pretty obvious he's totally deranged. Maybe they need to do one of those Navy larks where some subordinate invokes an arcane rule so they can throw the Captain in the brig? Saw it on Star Trek once when Kirk threw a wobbly. They also were going to do it to me in "The Hunt for Red October."

"PA News has this report on the impact so-called payroll votes may have had on the results of the confidence vote.

As many as four in five of the MPs who backed Boris Johnson in the confidence vote may have been on the so-called government “payroll”.

Between 160 and 170 MPs currently hold government roles, such as ministers and parliamentary private secretaries, according to analysis by the Institute for Government. It would be hoped by Downing Street that all of these MPs would have backed Johnson in the confidence vote.

Were this the case, around 80% of the 211 MPs who voted for the prime minister in Monday’s ballot could be said to have done so chiefly out of duty rather than loyalty. The rest of the 211 MPs who said they had confidence in Johnson will have been backbench MPs who are not on the payroll. But with as many as 170 payroll votes supporting the prime minister, the figures suggest only a few dozen non-payroll votes also voted in favour, implying that Johnson has lost the confidence of the majority of the Conservative backbenchers."

The 148 rebel Tories dramatically outnumber Johnson’s working parliamentary majority of 75.

Seems to have been glossed over how John Penrose (Anti corruption tsar) who resigned because he felt Bojo was now too corrupt to continue, received millions/tens of millions of this corrupt money when his wife was tasked to provide the "Test & Trace" system during covid ....... money well spent?
Also Jesse Norman who wrote a stinging letter calling for Bojo to be ousted, may or may not have reason to want the paper trail covered due to the fact his wife was given a contract and millions of pounds to sort out the vaccination system which after a reasonable early start fell behind the rest pretty quickly and for no obvious reason

As they both put letters in, it really is worrying to think how much those that still backed Bojo must have received

You may have something with Baroness Harding of Winscombe and the Test & Trace debacle. However, Dame Catherine Elizabeth Bingham DBE's shortish AND UNPAID tenure with the UK Vaccine Taskforce may be because she sussed out quite quickly what a totally corrupt shitshow she was expected to work with.

Can't say Joe public wasn't warned about Bojo, after all during his time as London Mayor he got "listed building status" removed from several properties to enable his building company mates to demolish historically valuable sites and make a quick buck building flats/offices on the sites

I see the rot at the top in the UK is spreading throughout the country:

Hundreds of paratroopers have reportedly been banned from an annual Nato deployment to the Balkans after videos emerged of an orgy at a military barracks.

I'm pretty open-minded but this is going way too far. This is disgraceful. There's no mention of disciplinary action other than not sending them overseas. If the police can't ping them for something, surely their employer can smack them a bit harder. These lads like Johnson seem to have been very lucky not to have been axed (sacked).
