Chinese lab experimented on 'highly pathogenic viruses' days before COVID-19 outbreak
EXCLUSIVE | Sharri Markson|01/06/2020|20min

THE Wuhan Institute of Virology was given permission to engage in experimental research involving highly-pathogenic viruses just 10 days before the first recorded case of COVID-19.

A Sky News special investigation can reveal the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s level 3 laboratory, where Shi Zhengli is director, had just been given permission by the Chinese Government to conduct even risker experiments on November 7, 2019.

This was 10 days before the South China Morning Post cites the first recorded case of COVID-19 on November 17, and weeks before the outbreak of the pandemic.

The new level of research is confirmed in three documents, including a statement from the director of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which states:

“Wuhan National Biosafety (Level 3) laboratory was officially qualified for experimental activities, and has the ability and conditions to carry out experimental activities of highly pathogenic microorganisms”

A separate document from the Chinese Academy of Sciences states: “On November 7, 2019, the National Health Commission formally approved the Wuhan National Institute of Biological Safety (Level 3) Laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences to engage in experimental activities of highly pathogenic pathogenic microorganisms.

“The application has undergone data review and on-site evaluation and demonstration, and approved the activity qualification.”

Shi Zhengli is the vice-chairwoman of the level 4 laboratory as well as the director of the level 3 laboratory.

It is understood that most coronavirus research takes place in level 3 laboratories.

The order meant the laboratory could start to engage in more experimental activities with “highly pathogenic microorganisms” such as the “Ebola virus, Niba virus, Marburg virus, Lassa fever virus… the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Bacillus anthracis and the tick-borne encephalitis virus.”

Sky News is not suggesting that the laboratory is responsible in anyway for the outbreak.

It comes as the director of China’s Centre for Disease Control, Gao Fu, told Chinese state media that the wet market played a role in spreading the virus but it was not the origin of the outbreak.
“At first, we assumed the seafood market might have the virus, but now the market is more like a victim,” he told the Global Times.

He said samples collected from animals in the market in early January did not contain traces of the virus.

“The novel coronavirus had existed long before.”

Seems like at least 10% of all returnees entering Thailand have fevers
the last batch from the UK

"Twenty of the 251 Thais who returned home on Sunday (May 31) from the United Kingdom were found to have high fever and rushed to hospital, Suvarnabhumi Airport deputy director Kittipong Kittikachorn said."

So roughly 8% of the returnees from the UK were infected
If Thailand proceeds with opening the borders and has 10,000,000 (Usually 40,000,000) Tourists come in, there would be 800,000 in Quarantine for 14 days every year to start.
The only people who benefit are the Hotels offering quarantine services

Time to get into the quarantine hospitality business I reckon. Looking for unused low-rise, low-rent commercial units with ample parking near the airport, close to the t-junction?

Interestig ... 8% infected ??

67 odd million in UK would indicate that somewhere in the region of 5.5 million would be infected but we are being told that only 8000 a day are getting infected .......... must be a hell of a discrepancy with bame numbers.

For the last 10 days, UK has reported on average 2,300 new cases per day, but they are only conducting tests on around 22,500 people per day. I am not sure how they select subjects for testing, but a 10% infection rate suggests it is highly targeted, those presenting symptoms or those associated with a positive test.

On that analysis, the true infection rate in the UK appears to be understated by quite a mark.

By comparison the USA is now testing around 230,000 people a day, about double the rate of the UK based on population. The countries leading testing based on population include Germany, Russia and Italy.

On total tests per million Russia is at no. 21, U.K. 26 and USA 35 Germany 38 Italy 24

Monoco, Gibraltar and the UAE are 1, 2, and 3

If the U.K. were to stop testing it would still take 2 weeks for the USA to catch up.

I dont understand Value for money??? We were talking if there is a vaccine for Dengue, which there is .

Once again with Dengue Malaria etc it is a matter of taking your medication (which is not guaranteed 100%) wearing appropriate clothing, stay in doors if at all possible etc
Yes there is a vaccine, that doesn’t protect 50% of people against 2 of the strains and if you haven’t had dengue it can make your infection worse
In 2017, the manufacturer recommended that the vaccine only be used in people who have previously had a dengue infection as otherwise there was evidence it may worsen subsequent infections
The direct cost to vaccinate everyone would be about ฿660,000,000,000 without adding in all other factors.

So if that doesn’t demonstrate the poor value for money I don’t know what does

STW
your figures are causing some confusion
Population of Thailand (everyone) 69 Million
Cost of dengue injection $207USD

Why would we vaccinate Everyone when the vaccine is only effective on those that have had the Dengue disease before?

Many people read what they want understand less and then utter rubbish to justify their personal thoughts, fasiling in comprehension and reading ability.
That is why we have these stupid conversations, dealing with people who are unable to read and understand.
