If there are some numbers on how many people Thailand is testing each day, it would be valuable posting those numbers too Vince.

According to worldometers website, they've done just short of 750,000 tests. Given that everyone coming into the country is being tested, that's, not a great percentage of the local population comparatively.

NO LOCAL COVID IN THAILAND .. cos the government says so .. its only coming from overseas .

and DMs sausage is 400 mm long ..on slack .

back in the real world .. despite being bad for biz/economy im hoping the THAI borders DONT OPEN up anytime soon as would possibly lead to a second wave n more closures as seen elsewhere.

I never said there should be local testing. Was just stating the numbers.

Only the Authorities know if more rigorous local testing is needed.

DM, I would agree with you if I was in Thailand but realistically, they cannot sustain the border closures unless Thailand is to change completely in how it deals with the rest of the world.

On the other hand, it is inevitable that Thailand will be affected at some point by the virus if borders are opened.

It's a fairly stark choice and, my only hope is that the choice is made based on what is best for the country as a whole and not what is best for the elite

Official #COVID19 update in #Thailand on Tuesday:
🔸3,417 people infected (+5)
🔸3,274 discharged from hospital (+22)

The five new cases are foreigners in alternative state quarantine who returned from The Philippines. For the second day in a row, the imported COVID-19 cases are only foreigners. Again, they were mainly English teachers. This time there were three Filipino English teachers and two French children who tested positive.

👉 The 3 Filipino teachers arrived in Thailand on 25 August. They tested positive on their first test on 28 August. They had no symptoms.
👉 The 2 French children, aged 3 and 15, arrived with their family on 29 August. They tested positive on the same day. They had no symptoms.

Makes me wonder how they get allowed to fly
Suppose to all have virus checks before flight
All this testing seems lots of failures

^ Thai nationals being repatriated do not need a Covid PCR test before being allowed to fly, only the foreigners using repatriation flights.
