U.K. going on lockdown, USA stopping restricting movement. WTF

Post by sometimewoodworker » March 24, 2020, 7:51 am

While all countries that have a spreading problem are reducing contacts and progressively strengthening measures the Parrot in chief (no implication to a user here ;) ) is quoting his Fox cabinet and saying that hurting business is worse than letting the virus spread exponentially and overwhelming the medical system.
WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!.
  • No personal responsibility!
The message that people will hear is don’t social distance go to restaurants, bars etc because that will keep them out of bankruptcy. Don’t stay at home because the USA is about business and you will kill the businesses if you stop working and buying.
If Trump saves us from the Depression everyone else was leading us into by reversing the country's course on this, I am going to build a statute to him in my front yard
  • Made of gravestones?
The fear of the virus cannot collapse our economy that President Trump has built up.
We The People are smart enough to keep away from others if we know that we are sick or they are sick!
After 15 days are over the world can begin to heal!
  • USA=World?
If there needs to be any more evidence of his total incompetence in this crisis I have no idea how much much worse it could be.

The USA needs leadership that has a constant message. That message could be less than the best, but it needs to be consistent. It needs leadership and gets vacillation that goes halfway then stops.

Instead It is getting statements from the top that are immediately contradicted by truth. It is getting half truth and that is worse.

This situation reminds me of the financial collapse of the US stock market in late 2007. The DOW was dropping at breakneck speed and nobody knew what to do because they had never experienced such a rapid and drastic drop. I was trying to manage my own portfolio of stocks through my online account, and no matter what I did the numbers kept falling. I took my portfolio to a few professional brokers, and they too were just scratching their heads. The point is....we are experiencing times that nobody is equipped to advise on, and the President and his men/women are no exception. Nobody in the world is capable of providing a ready solution to this crisis, so why is it now that everyone wants to blame President Trump and his leadership in the administration for not having all the answers. If you're only criticizing and not offering solutions, then you're part of the problem. Some are calling for a change in leadership, but just how exactly to you propose this to happen until the election in November this year? And when that time comes, are you prepared to vote for any of the alternatives to President Trump? Do you suppose that Joe Biden and his proposed running mate, Stacy Abrams, have any better ideas? Come on guys....give me a break. Changing horses in the middle of a stream is never a good idea, especially in our current political climate. We stand on the precipice of loosing our country to progressive left wing radicals, and you're cursing the only alternative we have to keeping the nation from collapsing under the weight of a socialist ideology that will still be raging on long after Covid-19 is contained. Be careful what you wish for!

Here's a preview of your coming messiah and Biden's running mate. REALLY....THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT???????????

If you get your wish and Joe Biden is elected as President and later dies in office or is declared mentally incompetent to preside over the American people, then say hello to your new President, Stacy Abrams. Are you ready for her?????

Socialism is being asked to dig deep into its pockets to keep capitalists going , the fragility of capitalist systems is quite clear, 2008 it failed and it's failing again, stock markets are a gamble , put your money in and if you lose don't come cap in hand demanding that those who didn't invest should give you their money. Here's an idea ,ask shareholders for the bailout ,if you can't get them to pay then go out of business .someone will come along and buy your assets and start a new business .pure capitalism should stand on its own two feet, not ask the liberals for free hand-outs

Did you miss the point that it is not requiring correct answers or a magic solution?

But actually providing leadership that is so obviously lacking, when leadership has a chance of helping, while the lack is most definitely hurting.

Not lies that have to immediately be corrected.

Not false hope about an untested drug (possibly successful in 1 or 2 cases) that has caused people with the conditions it is known to be able to treat to be unable to continue with their therapy, because frightened (or greedy) people are stockpiling it,

Not implied lies about having millions of masks when that order will take 18 months to supply, and so many other lies.

Not giving the impression that signing the Defence Production Act and then not using it will do as much as is needed, if anything at all.

As to what could be done just look at countries that are succeeding in slowing things down.

Solutions, not my circus, not my monkeys

Continuing with the analogy, That doesn’t stop me seeing what the monkeys are doing in and to the circus.

God love you Sometimewoodworker! You're still beating a dead horse and complaining about Trump, but nobody on this forum will say that they are prepared to vote for and accept the alternative to President Trump. If you're not prepared to accept the alternative in November, then what good does it do to continue to whine about your President?
Odds are he'll still be President for another 4 years and all the complaining in the world is not going to change his behavior.

FMD - that is exactly what the Bloated Orange Bullshiiter has been saying up until about 5 seconds ago.

Does that make him a mighty keyboard warrior, and stupid?

Question is rhetorical, BTW.

On 26th February 2020 the MAGA Messiah spake forth:
... and again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero
And the Fox masses did rejoiceth at such wondrous enlightenment.

In the real world, just 4 weeks later, there are now more than 54,000 cases with over 750 fatalities from Covid-19 in the USA.

World increase yesterday, around 40,000. USA increase yesterday 20,000

Now Trump and the right wing loonies are talking about loosening up restrictions. As at today, there is only one strategy available to limit the growth of CORONA 19, that is isolation.

To even consider abandoning the only available strategy is an indication that Trump has NFI

It’s getting worse as the idiot has been touting chloroquine as a cure he has directly killed 1 while the wife who also took it is under intensive care and may also die.

They took chloroquine phosphate an additive commonly used at aquariums to clean fish tanks. They took it because they "were afraid of getting sick,"

I'm no fan of Trump but on this point he does make sense but needs to find a balance.

Attached is a queue of people into one of our Social Service (CentreLink) offices, recently laid off from their employment. So they have gone from a populated workplace generating income and profits to desperation. The people numbers have just moved from one place to another, it's probably worse as they do not know those around them.

As Trump says "The cure could be worse than the disease."

I have been reading on TV that suicides have begun in the US over financial stress.

tRump is just quoting Fox and that approach is likely to kill 3,000,000 at a minimum and that is only if you have enough medical equipment that the US doesn’t so the number is more likely to top 10,000,000.

Luckily his idea is dead though he is going to keep trying and probably persuade more people to do the wrong things so making the message mixed and reducing the effectiveness of it.

As to balance; do you want to keep your job and kill your grandma or possibly loose your job and keep your family?

Abandon the isolation tactic and the queues will be a whole lot shorter at Centrelink, apart from the kids that have lost their parents. Example West Africa after AIDS.

A huge number of new infections are from healthhcare workers, there will be few of them left. The queues at the hospital wlll be no-existent because the staff are dead. Regardless, the hospitals will be overwhelmed way before that happens.

I suspect the suicide rates will soar, but that will be a drop in the ocean compared to CORONA 19 deaths

A lot of financial distress Mr T, is going to be preferable to a lot of dead

The numbers of deaths, taking data from Worldometer https://www.worldometers.info/coronavi ... eath-toll/ projected forwards assuming the percentage almost stops climbing is going to be almost ¼ of a million (245,000) by Easter when the US is supposed to fill it’s church’s according to the Orange plan. Then by about the 18th will reach the ½ million mark

Here is the data

And the logical projection

The world has to prevent the projection from being the truth.

I bet if Brits risked being shot dead every time they stepped onto the streets, they wouldn't care about risking covid19 either
