Naughty giggle, naughty naughty giggle.

No states closed schools nearly a month before NY, zero, zilch, nada. You are just another bullshitter on this forum who spouts false figures ...
Come on Belchie. Please follow more reliable news sources.

Are there any estimates on how much the UK and US are under-reporting their Covid 19 deaths? Credit to the British media that they regularly touch on this issue.
Apparently Britain is only recording deaths in hospitals , and nursing homes .Not deaths at home ect . So i would say YES they are under reported . As horrendous as those figures are .Nearly 10 , 000 to date .
Worse still to come i fear .

550 crew members of USS Theodore Roosevelt have tested positive for Covid-19

"There are 550 sailors from the USS Theodore Roosevelt who have tested positive for coronavirus as of Saturday, according to a statement from the US Navy.

So far, 92% of the sailors have been tested and 3,696 of them have now been moved ashore.

Some context: CNN reported on Thursday that a sailor from the USS Theodore Roosevelt who had tested positive for coronavirus was admitted to an intensive care unit in Guam after being found unresponsive."

Pretty devastating report from the NY Times here about the complete shambles and dysfunction within Trump's White House, leading to critical delays in the US response.
He Could Have Seen What Was Coming: Behind Trump’s Failure on the Virus

An examination reveals the president was warned about the potential for a pandemic but that internal divisions, lack of planning and his faith in his own instincts led to a halting response.
I suspect it will make SFA difference to the 43 million seemingly brain dead citizens who will vote for him come November.

Correct, just the most important.

The Orange's inability to manage the most important issue is telling about his lack of intelligence and ability to lead his nation out of this, the worst crisis since WWII.

Not necessarily.
Only if you think it will kill you, which I don't, (And tough luck if I'm wrong)
It's only new and scary because the media are beating it up because they love sensationalism because it sells their services.
It's only affecting a tiny percentage of the population and with measures already in place and worldwide medical research collaborating, it should stay that way.

Here's the worldwide death figures from 2017
Deaths 2017.PNG
From;

Corona has a fair bit of catching up to do to the already known respiratory diseases.

Sooner or later it will be old news because that's how the media operate.

We just need to get back to our normal lives and deal with it like all the other causes of death that we know about.

Deaths occur worldwide, age related diseases if put into one bucket are probably the biggest cause because we are not immortal. You cannot cure old age and it is not contagious.

COVID 19 is very, very contagious and has 10 times the death rate of flu.

You want a repeat of The Spanish flu that killed around 50 million because of inaction?

Why?

I think that you are badly wrong. The probable number of infections in the US is around 1.5% of the population, not such a tiny percentage, in the worst affected state the current death rate is at a minimum 440 per million. By all reports it’s quite a bit higher. On average that will probably give about a 1 in 2,000 death rate (of the total population not of the infected), but once you factor in age (over 60) sex (male) and any other risk factors your chance of becoming another body are quite high.

The fastest that there can be short term treatments (providing about 8~10 weeks protection) is around September and that is if there we are Very very lucky and even then they will have to be released on a “humanitarian” basis meaning that they have not been completely tested. So ramping up to you being able to get that is unlikely to be this year.

Tell me Mick, what are your thoughts on The Spanish Flu epidemic in 1918?

It was horrific, but it was also 100 years ago.
They had virtually zero knowledge of medicine, nor had worldwide communications.

We have both now, so we won't be getting another 1918.

Here's something else to think about.
In the history of this planet, mother nature has always been able to restore the balance.

If she thinks 7 billion people is too many, she will react.
Humans have been very clever at dodging her bullets, but I'm sure she has plenty of tricks up her sleeve.

If it's not the corona virus, there will be something else, eventually, to cull our numbers, if she deems it necessary.
And, there's absolutely nothing we can do about that.
The earth will still be here, long after we're gone

COVID 19, has spread faster and killed more than the Spanish Flu did in its first few months in the wild. Because of people like you who dismissed it as just the flu, it gathered pace through inaction, in October 1918, 200,000 people died as the pandemic spread. Its death rate was lower than COVID 19.

yet you dismiss this as just the flu without one single piece of evidence to back that claim.

Facts Mick, not scaremongering, cold hard facts.

No comparison with Spanish Flu.
They had no way to stop it spreading.

We have tons of ways and infection numbers everywhere are dropping, because of what we know and world wide communications.

The carnage will be nowhere near as bad, (in western countries anyway). Africa may be different because they don't have the facilities to deal with it.

Also, I have never referred to it as "Just another Flu"

So, how have these modern day marvels prevented Covid-19 from spreading to every continent except the Antarctic in less than 90-days?

The infection rate and fatalities are not dropping 'everywhere', especially in Europe, Latin America and the US.

All this vaunted new medicine and technology hasn't fared too well up to now. If anything, the communications technologies that have enabled online booking and payment of affordable and easy global air travel is why this has spread so quickly. That in conjunction with border-less, visa-less travel entitlements.

PS: Apparently nobody expected Singapore to fall the the Japanese either.

But maybe they are
The percentage increase is slowing, yes. But the number of cases is still rising
The absolute numbers of deaths Per day are dropping but still high.
