Alcohol sales ban

Post by Zidane » March 31, 2020, 6:31 am

The Governor of Sakhon Nakhon has signed a decree banning the sales of alcohol in the province from today, 31st March to 16 April.
The first of many regions ???

Was pretty much a sure thing this was gonna happen , its been muted in other places as well and makes sense really as for most alcohol isnt essential ..MOST. My only worry is if fully enforced and adhered too it could get nasty in the villages as they return to the old day of Sartor n rice wine and hence forth all the fun that brings and im sure the powerful big boy brewers with have a lot to say about it.

With all the pubs bars etc closed and just another isle closed off in the supermarket when put in prespective doesnt really make a great deal of difference... there are more important things to worry about than slurping a chang.

self isolating with no booze .. expect the domestic violence figures to rocket ...as well as the baby boom thats sure to follow...nowt on the telly , hot , wearing few clothes rationed beer supplies can only lead to a bonkfest !! or a boom time for those live cam s e x 'workers"

TW advised me, this morning, to stock up so into Ban Dung and my bottle shop. The owners daughter (speaks limited English) told me they had heard nothing??? Lao Khao was about the only stock I saw moving out of the place in any quantity, no problem getting a months supply of Leo for myself. [-o<

Went to BigC, beer on sale but spirits roped off. Couldn't quite see the rational in roping off cooking utensils, towels/bedding, stationary and the like!

At this stage the TV forum, which usually goes spare when it comes to alcohol bans, has only confirmed Sakhon Nakhon to the 16th April and Chonburi 18:00 hrs to 06:00 hrs.

Just a thought .. maybe the powers that be are thinking about the up n coming Songkhran holiday period which for the firt time as i can recall is cancelled ... the thought of Thais not celebrating this is at best folly .. imo some/many will and it will entail consuming copious amounts of booze ..and therefore huge risk of mass infections .

Could well be an early and sensible thing to do.

DM.
Thats exactly what my wife said earlier, and she's thai of course.
They want to ban songkran but that is nearly impossible.
Limiting the amount of grog a available would certainly help though.

Mind you, Im sure all the mum and dad grog shops have already stocked up for it.
Its worth a try.

Im stocked anyway.
Gotta be prepared :-)

We forget the HOLIDAY has been cancelled, so that if they can they will be working , if not house bound. The so-called bank holidays have been cancelled as
a well.
