See where the Governor of Buriram has introduced 14 day quarentine measures for travellers from Bangkok and other "red" zones. Hope our's has the same balls.
Mrs Dero has received instructions from her Or Bor Tor to make sure ALL arrivals from the South get temperature tests and masked at all times when socialising through Songkran.

I believe Korat's Governor has done the same as Buriram's. The doors are being closed at provincial level, pretty much what happened last year, no? I imagine Udon will follow before the weekend.

On another note, I mentioned earlier that Big C had resumed staffing the QR code/temp check desks at Nittayo. Also noted today that they had resumed temp testing the occupants of vehicles entering Muang Thong market, between Big C and Makro.

Awareness and control appears to be ratcheting up which is good.

The newest one is a resident of Lumpini Condo (5th floor of building 2).

Lots of people suggesting that travel over songkran should be stopped, citing what happenned in Europe over xmas/New Year where a massive covid wave followed the holiday. What they fail to realise is that Thais will all have their little string of flowers hanging over their rear view mirror to protect them ....... what could possibly go wrong?

Great ideas with sadly probably zero enforcement, so everyone should be on their toes and take precautions.

^ My observations indicate that some rules have suddenly been reintroduced and thus there is a very real awareness of the recent change in circumstances. The enforcement will eventually come after the same persistence that we witnessed last year.

These rules were integral to controlling the outbreak and spread last year. I recall that some here collectively dismissed last years efforts with derision, citing their perception of ineffective government oversight and an uncaring populace.

It's discouraging to see that some still hold their hosts in such low esteem while reaping the benefits of a job well executed. Now that's what I call "sadly probably".

Just spoke to the wife all the local rural areas will quarantine red zone travellers
My guess is that will set up checkpoints on the roads again
So she will be busier with the extra workload

I took my daughter to 2 clinics yesterday evening. Both doctors work at Udon Hospital. During consultation each doctor informed my daughter to take Covid precautions, also mentioned that their hospital is full of Covid patients. No numbers were given, it's classified information.

That unfounded claim of local hospitals already being "full of Covid patients" is hopefully being taken by members with several sip-lohrs full of grains of salt.

Yesterday about sunset, I passed a strip of about 5 shops between hwy. 2 and Kam Kling market which were oddly closed up and roped off. The only sign I noticed was a police logo. Further along the road at Kam Kling market there was a fire truck with lights flashing, and a group of officials, including some in medical-uniforms.The market was also roped off. Looked to me like it was being closed, so I didn’t stop.

Word from the locals today is that covidvwas found in that area. Feel free to consder it an unfounded claim.

The personally witnessed Kam Kling event that looked like a C-19 intervention makes the subsequent claim by locals that it was exactly that more credible.

A doctor working his second job at a clinic saying the hospitals where he normally works are already chock full of it lacks credibility until someone goes to the local hospitals, has a look and confirms it.

TBH, the whole covid / no covid thing is a all smoke and mirrors, isn’t it? How would they ‘find’ covid at any local market? I have not seen or heard of anyone being tested aside from a niece working in a Samut Sakohn clothing factory. Is there any free testing anywhere in Issan? If someone in our village is sick, I’m pretty sure they don’t rush out to tell everyone. And many of them would not visit a doctor. Maybe the local clinic if they felt bad enough.

Let’s hope for the best in spite of any organized response.

I always mask up when going in to town, but always see plenty of under the chin mask wearers. If a wave of variant shows up with travelers over Songkran, it could be bad.

Goid luck all!

Maybe the interpretation of "find" needs clarification or was lost in the translation? If Thailand's test, track and trace has indicated that someone who had either direct involvement or contact with someone who tested positive from the rash of Bangkok clusters, they will seek out that person at home or at work. That's how they intercepted an illegally returning, infected Myanmar casino worker on a bus on the Mitrapharp highway in the middle of the night. That's how they quickly tracked down all the Isaan market sellers who had bought seafood at the Samut Sakhon markets. Last year it was how they finally caught up with the Bangkok cop who had attended the Lumpini boxing tournament and then took his infected ass on a bus to the Udon Thani suburbs.

They didn't "find" the current 10 Bangkok clusters through a regime of blanket testing, same as they didn't get lucky with a random test session at a Kam Kling market. Some positively identified person's activity elsewhere BROUGHT them there.

Looks to me like quite a resilient system despite the detractors.

Local news is reporting 7 cases of Covid now in Udon Hospital.
The word on the street in Central Plaza now is that the figure is actually 9 but that's hearsay.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
