just a point raised before
Is there flights from Bangers to Udon, or only bus and train?

I guess this all depends when you’re planning to travel. Airlines are cancelling flight routes at the drop of a hat

The Transport Ministry has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand to curtail flights. They in turn need to confer with the airlines so maybe CAAT will make the 'final' announcement on this? Or maybe they won't bother? Pick the bones out of the following, contact the airlines, phone a friend and get a lucky number from the temple.

Domestic flights into and out of ‘Dark Red’ zones suspended from Wednesday

As for land-based public transport services, which also come under the new restriction, the Transport Company and Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, the operators of Bangkok’s bus services, have been instructed by the Transport Ministry to arrange sufficient services to meet the needs of commuters, especially during rush hours, and to facilitate the travel for people seekingmedical treatment or vaccinations.

By the time you get out of ASQ - ? late August - the transport situation could have changed numerous times.

You'll have plenty of time on your hands while luxuriating in your chosen hotel, so look at the position a lot closer to your release date.

all interesting reading as I am heading back next month..
yesterday I got the missus to ask the village health officer if I have to isolate at home for another 14 days after I do 14 days in BKK covid hotel..health officer rang her boss and if I have Pzfier jab and bring the paperwork, I dont have to isolate in Udon or at home on my way thru..
one train and one bus to Udon hmmmmmm...might have to buy a motorbike in Bangers and ride home..
I posted somewhere that my AZ vaccinated g/f returned to Ubon from the UK last month. She did 2 weeks ASQ in BKK but, on return to her mothers home was met by the head man and others who told her she must stay home for 2 weeks. She obeyed and has just had her first taste of freedom after 1 month.

I have had conversations with 2 doctors (1 a family friend) and one nurse (a family member) about the treatment being given to covid patients in the Udon Thani area. I asked because I have been impressed with Thailand's low fatality rate and being so much lower than the rest of the world.

All three told me that they have prescribed and administered Favipiravir. The dosage is administered based on the weight of the patient.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7467067/

There may be other treatments in other parts of Thailand or with your personal physicians, but I am not privy to that information.

Rodger that Samster, I am planning for the worst.Done the isolation thing twice now so old hat..however, everyone I ask about travel and covid in Thailand, I get a different answer, so I will just plan for the worst, then anything else is a bonus..

anyone know a good ASO in Bangers to stay in, where they take a deposit first, and full payment on arrival.

and an insurance company for the $100,000US cover

thanks

Not many ASQ hotels will take only a deposit. Check here:

https://www.google.com/search?q=asq+hot ... CA0&uact=5

For insurance, look here:

https://covid19.tgia.org/

Hint - only buy for the validity period of your visa eg 90 days, 180 days etc.

<< Hint - only buy for the validity period of your visa eg 90 days, 180 days etc. >> I am not sure this is the best thing to do. Let s say you catch COVID few days before your visa expiration date, you would be sent to hospital for 14 days, 10+ days after your insurance coverage termination. You would be required to cover the hospital-medical costs. Why not buy insurance coverage for your visa + 30 more days at minimum cost ?
Stay safe.

Looks like anyone landing at Udon Airport will be mandatory screened.
I know flights have all been suspended but I can’t see an end date to this notice so it could carry on when flights are reinstated

The Salil Hotel Sukhumvit Soi 57, were taking 15-20% Deposits from Farang's outside Thailand, in January 2021, with the balance to be paid on arrival at the Hotel. Payment of that Deposit was made Thai Bank to Hotel Bank Account, as was the balance on arrival.

Try the Visa Friendly Plan from Pacific Cross, its as good as any, for short term cover. You should be able to buy in on-line from where you are, via https://longstay.tgia.org/.

I guess it depends on your philosophy about insurance. In terms of health, I am happy to self-insure.

However, given that it was compulsory to have a policy to enter, I was looking for the cheapest premium I could find, which would also cover the period remaining on my visa - or more correctly, my re-entry permit.

The period remaining after arrived on 1 Feb was 6 months, which aligned perfectly with my about to expire R-E permit date of 30 July. So I bought 6 months.

The next choice was 12 months, at double the price (THB7,700 vs 14,400). In my case, it was either 6 or 12 months.

30, 60 & 90 day coverages are also available.
