Cost of Covid-19 immunization to Thais
My girlfriend wants me to send 1200 baht to her sister so she can get vaccinated. I thought and read that the vaccinations are free to Thais. I think she is in Bangkok which might affect things. It this just an attempt to squeeze what little money I have left out of me?

There have been reports of people thinking they're buying the opportunity for a vaccine....but I'd be careful of scams like this:

Discussion along those lines revealed that the payment is to be first in line when vaccinations become available. Sound like a scam. Declined to finance it.
Thank you both.

I heard that some hospitals were scamming by saying you have to pay "up front" to be on the vac list to receive a jab of something that hasn't even been ordered yet, let alone arrived in Thailand or be ready to administer (best case scenario, it may be here by early NEXT YEAR

It’s how the private vacation is being organised.

1200 baht is too little for a private vaccination. It could be a “fee for tea” to jump the list. Public vaccination is free but you may have no choice on when and probably not on the verity offeredrickfarang wrote: ↑July 11, 2021, 6:08 pmMy girlfriend wants me to send 1200 baht to her sister so she can get vaccinated. a) They dont have
b) They have no idea if or when they will receive it
c) It hasn't even been produced yet (everything that has been produced until now has already been sold)
d) By the time it finally gets here (if it ever does) it may already be useless and obsolete
And that's somehow NOT a scam ??
Re: Cost of Covid-19 immunization to Thais
They'll pull the famous Thai bait and switch, and offer a bottle of M-150 and a Kit Kat bar instead, saying the vaccinations have disappeared from a military warehouse in Chonburi.

A) nothing unusual, standard business practice for items in high demand.stattointhailand wrote: ↑July 13, 2021, 7:16 pmerr, they are charging for something that ....sometimewoodworker wrote: ↑July 13, 2021, 5:19 pmAnd how exactly is that a scam?stattointhailand wrote: ↑July 11, 2021, 7:18 pmI heard that some hospitals were scamming by saying you have to pay "up front" to be on the vac list to receive a jab of something that hasn't even been ordered yet, let alone arrived in Thailand or be ready to administer (best case scenario, it may be here by early NEXT YEAR

D) certainly not, it may be less effective than other vaccines, it may be as effective as other vaccines. It certainly will not be useless.
E) in the event that it doesn’t arrive you will be refunded.
No SCAM there.
That you don’t like the procedure doesn’t make it a scam. Just don’t get involved

^ Got to agree. It's standard operating procedure on lazada when some new fad kicks off.

There are some awfully naïve know-it-alls on Udon Thani's principle forum for helpful advice and expert assistance.

I have had my first shoot of Astra Zenica and it was free, no charge and lots of complimentary water.
