Using the little quote marks in the top right hand corner would have probably helped explain this, no?

There is ample misinformation going out through unofficial sources or on the jungle drums. The youngest niece has the right attitude, yai is regrettably holding a common, though mistaken, opinion.

Given any choice Sinovac would be the last option, but even Sinovac is streets better than an unvaccinated infection, and while a single Sinovac isn’t giving that much protection it too is significantly better than nothing.
Yes agree STWW .. just gotta make sure Yai gets a second shot and its AZ Tam .. i think thats the latest set twin jab now across the Thai community vaccinations , not hearing of anymore Sinovac 2 shots.
All the factory staff next door to us were down for Sino x 2 then that went out the window and changed Sino x 1 AZ x 1 ..all be done today including Daos niece who slipped in as an employee there

I know for sure some Thais are getting 2 x AZ .... but i not heard of any Thais getting Pfizer in Udon.

DM
All makes perfect sense. I've had a subsequent chat with Mrs tam and Yai is feeling better but I plan on keeping Mrs tam posted on what I hear via this excellent forum on a more frequent basis. It was a bit hard trying to do that from the submarine.

Between Anutin's Sinovac and that other chap's AZ, it's such an obvious bloody carve-up.

Re: Vaccine Passport today

Post by Drunk Monkey » September 23, 2021, 11:00 am

so many covid related threads i posted this on the wrong one ..Doh

Went and picked up the vaccine passport from the general hospital this morning .. very quick n easy just handed in the green 50 bt receipt and appointment slip given 7 days ago when applied.. wait 5 mins done.

Its a yellow book as previously stated with your personal details on the front cover , inside again personal details plus your vaccine history stamped and signed , turn to next page and more spaces for more any added covid vaccines/ boosters etc

I did ask the staff there about any expiry time on the passport to which a very vague answer was given , i got the sense they werent really sure only saying within 1 year return to update if have a booster.. not confirming if the passport itself would expire and have to be renewed.

one more bit of info .. the general hospital will update this passport but only with vaccines received via the MOPH government vaccine routes so if for instance i was to have a Moderna vax or booster at BKKUDH or any private non government operated location at some point in the future how would i update the passport .. a possible future grey area ?? ...maybe take the passport and get it updated and stamped at the BKKUDH .. wait n see on that senario.

As a footnote ..a mate went with us to apply which he did at the same office but a slight change from 7 days ago as unlike i paid at this office now he had to pay the 50bt downstairs at the Pharmacy counters next to Amazon coffee then take it back upstairs to pre sign the passport .. the 7 day waiting time remains.

Thanks for the update. Like the pink ID or yellow housebook, some will find the vaccine passport a useful tool in these uncertain times. For 50 Baht, I'll take it.
But until the rest of the world signs on to a standardized method of vaccine validation, I don't think it'll be of much use outside the country.

Agree Mr P .. for 50bt its a no brainer ..and for me handy to flash if stopped by the BIB whilst going to BKK n around Isan , a bit OTT but ive also got the app on my phone and a copy of the Vac cert given at the Uni laminated in the truck.

For sure lots of grey areas remain with regard to boosters , updating vac history and even if the Thai AZ will be accepted in the UK ??

The start of the new newer normal .

the Provincial Health office said they were closing to have a party, perhaps since Mahidol day is tomorrow and a holiday? The wife got in last person around 10:15 or so to apply for her vaccine passport. Thinking back many years ago the "Vaccine Passport" bears a striking resemblance to the Kingdom of Thaiand vaccination bookelt the government issued 47 years ago!

Nice thumb nail, who does em?

Just kidding, the yellow book reminds me of the useless waste of paper we had in the 70's in Aust. It was yellow also but not recognised on many boarders.

Where did it get the moniker "vaccination passport"? It is exactly what it says on the cover - a certificate of vaccination. The Thai Government hasn't made any claims about what purpose it may serve. On a slight tangent, I went to the Udon General Hospital yesterday on a non-Covid matter, the first time since I visited my wife's father on his death bed 13 years ago. I was pleased that I discovered this service centre for foreigners.

The purpose of my visit was to see an orthopedic specialist, and while there I had my annual battery of blood tests, and applied for the (50 baht) Certificate of Vaccination - pick up on 4 October. I was charged the sum of 200 baht for the service, which included English-speaking staff, an air conditioned lounge with comfortable sofas, and an escort to take me to the three different areas I needed to visit - I would have had a terrible time finding them on my own. I highly recommend the service, which is very easy to find - there is an escalator about 15 metres inside the main entrance slightly to the left and when you reach the first floor, the Foreign Customer Service Centre is right there in front of you.

I first heard the term " vaccine passport " touted in Thailand a few months back , more recently and locally the staff at the Uni used the term after the second jab ..quote: please go to the last station to get your Thai Certificate of covid vaccination then take this to the general hospital to get your vaccine passport if you need to travel overseas... now having picked up the yellow book it clearly says on the front ... Certificate of covid Vaccination ... though sadly it appears at the moment it doesnt really assist as even Pfizer x 2 administered here and many other nations is not classed as being fully vaccinated upon arrival in some countries including the UK.

You are indeed correct ajarn .. where exactly the term vaccine passport originated from remains a mystery.

I did see the foreign customer service place but it was more fun asking all those lush nurses in my pigeon Thai where to go :D and more so their reply in pigeon English made my experience more enjoyable.

Still say for 50bt and so easy its a no brainer not to get the yellow book regardless whats written on the front , i will be traveling by truck to Bkk circa 3/4th October and will come in handy to flash at the BIB if stopped.

The "Foreign Customer Service Centre" is a free service for foreigners... I use it a lot... That said the price for a consultaion with a doctor has resently went up to 250 baht... before it was 50 baht... The nurse in charge of the Customer Service Centre is called "Nid".

Says it all, really. While the headless chickens are scurrying frantically around the barnyard petrified of impending doom, the Provincial Health Authorities are going to a party.

Good Times.
