So what's the betting?

Post by Bandung_Dero » January 12, 2022, 5:12 pm

Novax's situation could be decided tomorrow.
His visa application was/is very dodgy and he is now blaming his minders.
If I had a spare quid I would go on deportation.
Som Nom Na -- a few needles would have made his life MUCH easier!
AND if he gets deported there is no return for at least 3 years.
AND his chances of getting to the French Open are his and Bucklies.

Perhaps there are those that are intent on making the rule breaking/covid spreader pay for organising his tourny soon after the initial covid world lockdown

judge reinstates his visa, so in theory he's allowed into the country..the Minister may throw him out but doubt it..
my bet is its up to Tennis Australia to decide if it wants the heat from probably the majority of aussie public if they allow him to play, or risk loosing his future attentance at the event, if they turn him away..
then there are other players who are playing by the rules re covid, in many sports in Australia, including the NZ Warriors living there just to compete..so will other sports face the same problem..
my bet is tennis australia will turn him away, as No Vax did test positive for covid only some weeks ago..
but you never no in australia, some sandpaper met appear out of someones pocket..

He’ll play.
Let’s imagine for a moment the storm if he wins.
Will then be a classic meltdown of bureaucracy.
Can’t wait.

Yes, that was good. It now seems like he might not have had Covid at all in December. What a dork.

An opinion piece in The Washington Post:
Now the battle will shift to other countries that host major tennis tournaments — and in particular the three remaining Grand Slams. France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, has vowed to “piss” off the unvaccinated, yet his sports minister has said that Djokovic could play the French Open even while remaining unvaccinated. That’s not a good look.

Then there is the Wimbledon tournament. It is played in Britain, whose prime minister, Boris Johnson, is rapidly losing popularity because he violated lockdown rules, including by hosting a party at 10 Downing Street in May 2020. It would be an even worse look for Johnson to offer Djokovic a pass to enter the U.K. — at least not without the required 10-day quarantine for unvaccinated arrivals.

Finally there’s the United States — host not only of the U.S. Open starting in August but also of major tournaments in March at Indian Wells, Calif., and Miami. Most travelers to the United States need to produce proof of vaccination. There are only a few exceptions allowed, including people “whose entry would be in the national interest.” I hope the Biden administration will show the same determination as Scott Morrison’s government in Australia in refusing to apply a double-standard for a double-faulting tennis star.

Waiting ...

It's a shame he was ever allowed on a plane to Oz. I wouldn't be too thrilled if I was sitting near him.

He's toast.

As someone else mentioned, if he voluntarily departed when the first visa cancellation was issued, he could have come back next year, vaccinated and everyone would be happy. Now he's probably getting the 3 year ban as well, just for arguing the toss.

His lawyers claim if he wasn't the "talisman" for the anti-vaxers before as claimed by the government, he probably is now.

He sure is enough of a dipstick to be their talisman ......... the bits theyve shown of his mum with a megaphone, I bet her names Karen as well, and his dad going on about his son being like Jesus Christ ...... friggin Loonytunes the lot of them

Best bit is the French & British public have now seen a govt stand up to him, and will expect the same ahead of Roland Garros & Wimbledon

Froggie Sports Minister has said only fully vax allowed at Roland Garros for French Open ........ looks like Novax needs to become Yesvax pretty soon if he wants to continue his career
