Glass Skywalk.....

I once walked over Tower Bridge in London and they have installed glass panels so you can see how far up you are, or to put it another way how far you could fall. Now knowing the penchant for the English to make sure it is safe, I felt safe, but did not like it. Also knowing the Thai safety record ( almost zero ), there is no-way I would even consider going across that, unless there was a safety harness and even that would be suspect I am sure.

I was at Wat Pha Tak Suea yesterday, the skywalk wasn't open, not finished yet. The view was pretty limited due to heavy haze.

With Thailands safety record. Exploding boat engines, ferries sinking, road fatalities, railway accidents, runaway carts at Khon Khaen Zoo and more. Eh!!!! I think I'll pass on an excursion there.

A year or two back I took the cable car in Hat Yai Municipal Park.
The cable car is very small, holding 6-8 persons max and I have to admit I got a sweat in the palms of my hands whilst making the journey. 8-[
Its been out of service for about a year now,I believe. :-k

Wasn't there a fairly recent case in China of some glass flooring cracking?
I'll add fairground rides to Socksy's lists of accidents in Thailand.
I think I've been to this location and it can be a great view on a clear day.
But don't think I'd enjoy or risk a skywalk. [-o<

I think I'd wait a few months and then give it a go. Now, after a few years, and the rust has started to eat into the welding joints, and the maintenance budget has conveniently disappeared. 8-[

Bought a 5ft 10mm plate glass fish tank a few years back ........ came down one morning to see the living room covered with water and not a lot left in the tank ...... TIT (thankfully enough water remained to keep the fish & inverts alive until I could get them back to the fish shop). Wouldn't trust ANYTHING made/constructed/maintained in Thailand to do what it is supposed to do

visited the Skywalk yesterday.. Great views to the north and northwest over the Mekong River valley. Its owned by Wat Pa Tak Suea and there is no admission.. It is located on the 800 foot ridge overlooking Ban Sangkom (Sangkok district, Nong Khai) about 90-100 kilomters west of Nong Khai here: https://www.google.co.th/maps/@18.03649 ... a=!3m1!1e3 The road up the ridge to the Wat from Route 211 (which parallels the Mekong) is clearly marked in Thai with large signs at the turn. It takes about 1 hour and a half or more to get there from Udon (Rte 2 to Rte 211 then follow to Wat turnoff). Its worth the trip if you have a shortie day trip in mind.. After doing perhaps an hour at the temple, you can drive down to Sangkom village on the Mekong river where there are a number of OK restaurants right on the river for lunch.. Google Nong Khai Skywalk for photos.. https://www.google.co.th/search?q=nong+ ... r=0.8
