Mini Water Park (Nakhaburi Resort)

Post by papaguido » October 6, 2011, 5:30 pm

If you got kids and looking for something to do, especially with school break upon us. Nakhaburi resort (approx 14K from ring road & Nong Khai intersection, towards NK) has a mini water park (named Mountain Park), a full size swimming pool and 2 kiddie pools. The fee for Mountain Park is 60bt kids/80bt adults, free for guest. I didn't see anything posted for the main pool and I forgot to ask. Mountain park hours are M-F 1400-1900 and weekends are 1000-1900, the main pool is available from 1000-2100.

Snacks and beverages of any kind are not allowed, but can be purchased, although limited, at the small concession stand as well bathing attire, swim goggles and and towels. Food is available from the restaurant and is delivered pool side. Plenty of seating available with umbrellas.

We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms were decent, free wifi, and free breakfast included (nothing to write home about), a deluxe room (individual bed) was 840 a night. The standard rooms (780bt) are adequate, but none available on the ground floor which was what I wanted and upgraded to deluxe. My only complaint was the rooms didn't have enough electrical outlets. The stand alone villas, cottages, cabins or chalets (whatever you wan to call them) looked interesting and might give them a try on another visit.

That looks nice and new.
Good for a day trip. Mountain Park is also for young children who cann't swim?
Is it possible to go by bus or is it too far from the highway?

Thanks for the post Papaquido

The water park is a fairly new addition, about 2 months old and the resort is just off the Nong Khai hwy. I'm sure you can get there by bus, don't know which bus, but it's roughly 15-16K from the bus station near Tesco.

My daughter, 6 and stands at 96cn is not a proficient swimmer but managed. The water came to just above her shoulders. She rode all the slides and I was at the bottom to help her out of the way of trailing sliders.

Thanks for the info papaguido, I remember seeing some posters around town about a water park but I didn't know it was at Nakaburi. It's about time someone opened something like this for the kids. I'll take my daughter there when she's a little older.

This is a known problem, specially with elder hotels. At the moment I have 5 different chargers in my luggage: one for the mobile, laptop, toothbrush, small and big camera.

Twenty years ago it were none. =;

I spent some wunderful days in Kanchaburi Hotel, too.
The park is very nice and there are ponies walking around.

The room was OK, I paid 780 plus 350 for an additional bed.

We had a room with a balcony on the side.

The shower was, lets say: OK, but not more.

But the really super thing are the two pools they have.

This is the one next to our room:

And this is the one with the slider.

That's nice the owners of Nahaburi Resort have built a mini water park.
I wonder how long it will be before someone gets inspired, and builds a bigger water park in Udon.

For the hildren this Water Park is really genial.

We were there with four girls of age 5, 11, 13 and 14; the elder were pure Isaangirls never having been in a pool before. I focussed of cource on my 5-years old baby, as you never know what can happen and water is allways dangerous. But for me these days in that hotel were very relaxing!

some of them are very, very cute :D

Of course you don't need nessesairyli to book a room just to use the pools.
You also can pay an entreefee, it costs between 50 and 80 Baht a day.
The bathingclothes you can hire there (forbidden to go in the water with clothes).
The restauration around the pools is good, but not cheap.
A nice clubsandwhich costs 110 bath.

Had several nice days out there.
Hopefully fun for all, but do watch out for any children who don't use common sense when using the sliders. Like following down too soon, not moving away from the bottom of the slides etc. For many, it will be the first time they've had access to a slider.
The last time I was there (not swimming) I saw kids rolling sizeable stones down the chute!

Hi everyone, I've talked to the owners, who are the nicest people, and they have a mini van that they use to pick up guests of hotel or pool. They will bring to and from the airport. If you call ahead, I'm sure they wouldn't mind coming to downtown UD. Telephone (042)-218 280 www.nakhaburi.com Cheers

Excellent reviews, we went there last weekend with the grandkids, great day out and the staff are certainly helpful. Our 3 g/kids are 2, 5 &12 they enjoyed it immensely, I call it a mini Pattaya Park where we used to take our 2 when they were nippers many moons ago, my bro- in- law lost his false teeth as he hit the water when he came off the slide, beware those with dentures!!!

Yes still open. The water slide opens at 2:pm, they'll open earlier if there's demand for it. Pool opens at 9 or 10am.

There's a better, cleaner one on the opposite carriageway about 500 metres more towards Udon coming from Nong Khai. Milan/Moolan or something like that set back about 50m from the main road.

You just beat me to it, Socksy, as I was going to mention this one too.

I tried this the other day, first time. A lot smaller, but two main pools and a shallow one for the younger kids. Has some sliders. 50 baht each entrance, adults and children. I rather liked the 'sala-type' areas alongside the pools, where one can sit down as a group and eat - but you may have to be early to grab these. I imagine it could get crowded later in the day. Wife said cost of food very reasonable.

I enjoyed and certainly my young son. I suggest certainly worth a look.
