expats gathering in the area of NongHan,Phen,BanDung

Post by jeebeeg » April 28, 2015, 8:41 am

For some time a bunch of us, farang living nearby show up regularly on a Thursday afternoon, around 5 o'clock, in PhiBunRak, in the centre of the NongHan, Phen, BanDung area, in a shop at the intersection over there, at the day of the weekly market. Some days there are just a few of us, on other days the group is a bit bigger.
The shop owners are happy to have us there, and provide for some simple seating arrangements.
There is no agenda, no membership, or whatever.
Just a get together, drink a bit, and some social talk.
Whenever you are in the neighborhood, or if you are the one who passed by a week ago, feel free to join in, or just come to say hi.
The group is very open for newcomers, and everybody should feel welcome.
See you this Thursday, or one of the coming weeks !

Hans

Thanks for posting this guys. My thai/american wife and I am coming to Udon today and we'll be visiting some family in Nong Mek for sure. I would love to chat and grab a beer with you guys since we keep talking about buying a house over here, etc, etc. If no-one is coming this Thursday 7/30 for some reason please let me know if you see this.

My wife and I live about 10KM west of Nong Han and we go to Nong Han Frequently. Can you tell me where the meeting place is located from the Nong Han Hospital ?

Thanks

My guess is that you come from the direction of Kumpawapi, you just follow the road, through NongHan, and you will come in PhibunRak (locals still call it Ban Daeng).
Just go on, and you will come to a T-junction, the night market on your right, and the temple in front of you.
We will be at the shop on your left, opposite the temple.
(The shop where we gathered before has been closed down.)
PM me for my phone number if you do not feel sure.

Looking forward to see you !

I'm in Nonghan this week and I would like to meet up. However I don't want to be a party pooper but it's "Buddha days" both 30/7 and 31/7. Will it still be a meet-up? I mean in front of the temple :-)

Oops,

Excellent point !
I asked my wife, and she had not thought about it to tell me before, but, yes, you are right, we will have to skip a week.
So thanks for bringing this up, and looking forward to see all of you next week !
