Have a bloke here for a few months holiday and he is looking for a fishing lake where he can buy his catch to take home, read something going back a fair few months but can't find it, any one can assist with a map or phone number and I will pass it onto his, cheers from the SB

SB here's a link but you'll probably need a bit more research as to which are still open. I've been to Samman Lake in the Nong Sam Rong area with big catfish and decent size edible fish but beware - my catch was put in a bucket by staff to keep it alive. At the end of my expedition I went to pick it up and pay for it for the estranged to devour only to discover that the fockers had eaten it. Cheap rod hire and bait on site as well.

Hi Bill

Go right to the end of Phosri road NW from the City Centre until you reach the ring road. Go straight over at the traffic lights into Chiang Yun Road (the road to the Ricefields Hotel (who may have a decent map on their site). From the ring road intersection if I remember correctly it is no more than 1 km on the left but it has a small narrow soi intrance so take it slowly. On the hard copy of Udon Map you can actually see the lake situated in grid reference E7. Hope this helps.

Bill - I found this 2012 link which also has a map link in it.. Helps when you search the internet with the correct spelling. What a numpty!

Socksy is correct, get onto the Chiang yun road and get to the galtex garage on your left and just after that look carefully for a small side soi with a small sign for saman fishing.
We went last week for a look and spoke to the owner
He seems a pleasant guy and told us about the general fishing and rules etc, but no fish allowed to take home all catch and return apparently
Good luck and hope my info helps you find it
