Radio controlled airplane

Post by pje » March 25, 2008, 9:27 pm

I am looking for a decent shop for a radio controlled airplane.
I know there is a small one in Complex, but with very limited choice, i did not find what i was looking for.

Anyone know if there is another shop in town ?

Sorry pje this wont be much help but I did see a half-way decent shop here in Khon Kaen that did both nitro/gas and electric R/C stuff but I left the hobby long ago so didn't give a second look, sorry. I did see some 1/32nd scale or so aircraft along with some Futaba 4 or 6 channel radios. Of course I saw the 2 channel helicopters that can be had anywhere (and are fun to fly) but I'm not sure if the place would be up to your standards.

Good luck.

Not sure if it's still there but there was one off of Phosi Road.

Go over Fountain roundabout toward AEK, there's a small soi on the left before the next set of lights. It's a soi with a couple of wholesalers on it.

Shop was at the bottom of this soi on the right

I'll be in the area later this morning so will check it out for you.

There is a large international manufacturer of radio controlled planes somewhere near Don Bosco School, they also have an air field near Harrys Bar, Harry takes his son there often. Pop in there and speak to Harry and you will get all the information you need.

There is a great place for flying RC aircraft on the newly developed Tungsi Muang ground, I believe a group meets up daily.

also while sipping a beverage at Arena, you could watch a couple guys playing, less congested, no worries of frequency but fly good or you may be taking a swim to retrieve you plane, or get on with pontoons.

Tung si Muang is pretty hard to miss, large area in town where they keep redeveloping, hopefully done this time, but where they hold the yearly 2 week december celebration. when going round the last circle, clock circle w/royal family pics, its the street that passed the bkk bank then dead ends, 'T' intersection at tung se muang.

I must say it looks a different place from an aerial view.

There was a business in the Pattaya area who use one of those large rc helicoptors to do aerial photography work. Pretty clever idea with all the condos and development projects going-on. Must be a relatively large unit.

The cars and coptors are big with the Thais, I don't think it's particularly cheap equipment either so apparently some of them have spare discretionary income. you don't see those old-time planes very much.

Does anybody know where to purchase Depron foam, in sheets 5mm to 25.4mm thickness, or similar in weight, and impact strength, in Udon?
I prefer 3D type aircraft, prop or ducted fan, and scratch build my own planes. I joined one of the local RC clubs, and scheduled a meeting with the RC Plane factory next month, but from the website, they are very large scale. Any input, would be appreciated.

Thanks
