PAL or NTSC
PAL or NTSC
I want to bring an XBox 360 to Thailand from the UK,
It is PAL Just wondered if it will work with a TV, if the TVs in Thailand are PAL or NTSC?
or
If I could connect it to a PC monitor, are PC monitors with HDMI available?

Yes, there are LCD TV's and monitors available with HDMI.

Re: PAL or NTSC
Yes, Thailand uses the inferior PAL system.
NTSC is used in Japan and South Korea, where most televisions are produced.

Re: PAL or NTSC
Aussie TV's wont work here! something to do with reverse poles and magnetism due to the Northern/Southern hemisperes
All my UK sh#t is fine ( eg. playstation and DVD's )as Thailand works on PAL and multi region ( DVD's )

Re: PAL or NTSC
Not related to X-Box or TV's,but related to NTSC,PAL and Multi!,So,many times when i buy DVD's,I will get a ''Disc error'' reading over and over again when they are ''loading''!
I keep ''opening and closing'',change the setting to PAL,NSTC or Multi, depending on what the last setting was,and eventually they start! But it seems that many times ,I go through the settings many times before it works.I was wondering if it might be my DVD player as it is 7 years old,a SHARP brand, received as a ''bonus'' with my UBC hook up?
I don't know anything about electronic equipment or toys, should I take the player for a checkup and to whom?
I will now ''google the settings titles and maybe I will get more information to pass on,right or wrong!

The typical Texpat post...Texpat wrote:Yes, Thailand uses the inferior PAL system.
Pal is superior. There is a reason that NTSC is nick-named 'Never The Same Color'. Amongst other issues...

Re: PAL or NTSC
NTSC is clearly superior. Just ask the two countries in the world that make the vast majority of televisions which system they use.
They don't require your silly acronyms to know which is better.

Re: PAL or NTSC
Texpat once again spouting something he knows not a lot about and once again wrong information...no offence!!
PAL is superior picture quality of 576 pixels vertical and NTSC is 480 pixels vertical, both same with 720 pixels horizontal. PAL wins hands down by 20% better picture quality, clarity and also frames per second.
Didn't mean to p*ss on your parade Texpat but you really must get your facts right before posting your bias, xenophobic and "I'm always right' views.

Hi.
On all independant tests conducted, PALD came out well ahead of all others systems, for colour quality etc. Most people call it PAL as this is how it started, so they added the D which stands for delayed, later. Put simply it allows the set to check the colour quality every so many lines and delays the display until this happens. So you get the best colour resolution. Lacking in NTSC. system
Don't know what system they use in the states but it was the worst picture, colour wise, that I have ever seen in my lifetime of travelling the world.
Tex. it is like saying, because America makes more cars, that they are the best. Another false statement, It is quality not quantity that counts in my book.
I think PALD is the best and most widely used system in the world.

Guys you are taking Tex far more seriously than he takes himself. He has practiced his craft in many years of living under a bridge.
If he believed he could get a bite by stating the sun comes up in the west, he would do so. And the inevitable would happen.

Re: PAL or NTSC
Tell that to the manufacturers in Korea and Japan who make LG, Panasonic, JVC, Sharp, Sony, Samsung, Hitachi ...
Ask them what system they use ...
I've got both in my house currently and I can tell you the JVC (NTSC model) is far superior to any PAL model I've seen.

Re: PAL or NTSC
Well if they're making them in this format, (NTSC), they're not gonna tell you the other, (PALD), is better are they?
Re: PAL or NTSC
They make sets of both kind and some sets that switch between one or the other.
What system do their countries subscribe to?
Hint: it ain't PAL, pal.

Another ambiguous post from Texpat. I suppose if we didn't have devil's advocates on this site we'd have to take life a lot more serious.Texpat wrote:Telling that all you can muster is an animated graphic.
As far as the 2 systems are concerned.
America were one of the first to transmit colour using the NTSC system. Europe waited and when they got it right they introduced PAL.
The cost of the USA changing from NTSC to PAL would have been astronomical so they accepted 2nd best.
It's rather like asking America to change from driving on the right to driving on the left. The cost would be out of the question.
When my brother visits from Florida he envies the quality of PAL compared to NTSC.
Flo !!!!!
Good to hear a sensible comment being made on the subject =D>

Thanks!! I nearly got embarrassed by Tex, calling my little smiley an animated graphic.lepidoptra wrote:...
