Need help with IP Camera WANSVIEW NCM623W
Evening Everyone!
Looking for some big IT Mind to help me with setup of my IP camera.
The setup should be the easiest thing to do ever, yet in my case there is a problem at the very beginning.
With my camera i got the manual which tells me to run the program on the CD(HM Search) which will find connected to the router cameras and from there I can setup all detail etc.
The problem is that the software does not find a camera .
I have checked all the tutorials and guides on the web, also install IP Camera Wizard, which gives me same result (cannot see the camera).
Did that on 2 laptops, same results.
All firewalls are off - AV, Router Firewall & Windows Firewall).
The router is Thomson TC7200 with True broadband.
Any ideas ?
Help...

After looking over your attachment. I went to the manufactures web site for your model IP camera and I discovered that you need more information. I suggest that you take out time to read over the owners manual for the IP camera in order to make yourself familiar with the setup.. There is a DDSN number on a tag on the bottom of the IP camera. I sent you an attachment that I snipped from the web site that refers to the DDNS number. Good luck....[img] [/img]

Hello,
thanks for your reply,
yes, there is a DDNS no on the camera, which should be used to access the camera AFTER it's connected to internet.
But how to connect it to internet that's my problem .
I see in my router settings that DDNS is disabled. would that be a reason of the issue?
Regards,
Mike

Hi,
The problem is that i cannot access the camera- either it's wired connection or wifi, computer doesn't see the camera, looks like the router is blocking the access from one device to another?

From what i can see on the picture it looks like your using the wrong networkcard.
The ip address in your picture is not a local adress, it should look like 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x if you havent changed it to something diffrent yourself.
Check the dropdown menu if there isnt another networkcard that works better.

The 169 subnet is a Windows APIPA address. The computer is not finding a network. If you are connecting your laptop NIC port directly to your camera NIC port you need to use a cross over cable. The other alternative is to connect you pc to your router and then the camera to your router as shown in the manual that I keep referring to.

Pf-flyer,
Yes, that is what I am trying feom the beginning - bot devices plugged in to the router, as the manual says, as it is supposued to be straight forward.
And the mommentwhen you should see the camera on the screen - is not happening, computer won'tfinfthe camerera in the first step of installaction...
Dudde - you are right, screenshot was taken with different chosen network card, but it still does not change anything, when I swich to Realtek PCi Family card with wired connection I have the same result - camera not found.

Problem solved!
Turned out that the router as I suspected had some problem with connecting laptop and the camera.
There are 4 ports at the back and I tried all possible configurations, and in the end laptop found the camera on configuration - p2 laptop and p4 camera. Very strange:/.
Anyway - from there setup went quite smoothly and now everything is working just fine,
thanks for your help.

If your PC is getting the APIPA address as shown in your attachement when you are connected to the router; then you need to address some basic issues.
The PC is not picking up an IP. Is your PC NIC port configured for DHCP ( Set to Obtain an IP address automatically ) ?
Is the DHCP service activated on your router ?
The PC and your router need to talk to each other. Does your PC see the router ?
The PC will send out BOOTP requests. The router will respond to BOOTP requests and assign an IP.
If the PC does not receive an IP assignment then Windows will assign an APIPA address.
You could also have a bad Ethernet cable.
