This video is in Thai, but it may help you. (The dashcam is a generic Chinese model, and I can't find anything in English).

Menu button is middle left, as you look at the screen. Up and down buttons are above and below the menu button.

https://shopee.co.th/%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%A5 ... 2664102325

OK button is top right.

Look at what this guy is doing from about 1.20 onwards - in the main menu he goes down to the second item (immediately below the "HD" icon), presses OK, and comes to a screen with

"off"
1 minutes
2 minutes
3 minutes.

Press the down button till you get to 3, and then OK.

Hopefully that works - it would be a lot easier if you can have someone with you to translate the YTube.

5 minutes should be OK, but try on 3 minutes.

What SD card are you using - brand, model and capacity?

Also, another thing I read is to turn off the G-force recording, as this will fill the card up with permanent files and leaving no room for normal recording.

ok , G-force turned off , i also turned off the Parked setting for if the car gets bumped while parked .

the make of the memory card is Kingston 32gb HC class 1 .

and i,ve changed the mins to 3 , i guess all i can do now is wait to see if the memory card fills up .
thanks again Jack .

If it was the G-sensor files, they may still be clogging the SD card.

Best to format it (via the dash cam) for a fresh start.

Cheers

My experience with these cheap, generic dashcams is that their inbuilt formatting is different from that of a laptop or PC. When I tried a memory card that I had already formatted on my laptop, it didn't mount it but if I used the dashcam's formatting function, it was all good.

It might be worth mentioning not to use the “quick format” option on Windows. It only deletes not erases data so not really formatting the disc/card.
Quick formatted cards never seem to work in cameras, GoPro etc

As tamada says, it is generally recommended to format via your dashcam, rather than PC.
