Same the world over there are both relationship happy stories and horror stories ... that will never change , IMO as well as schemimg money hungry nut jobs there are some lovely genuine lasses here .

Just a few ive heard of and know to be true in 18 years here .....

The Thai "hubby brother never had a job in his life guy " is usually who the farang buys the truck for then becoming the family taxi driver ...ISNT IT ? thus enjoying all the family outings holidays and dining experiences including the kids from a previous relationship even rape at the hands of a corrupt official, followed by the sick granny and gambling / Uni debts to pay off , and lets not forget the uncle jailed who is of course innocent who needs paying out of the monkey house ...oh forgot and roof leak .. and dog bite the postman .. have to pay for hospital and funeral if he dies ...OMG ... its a dangerous world ...

That said i would rather take my chances here any day then live in Blighty , cold biting winds full of sleet , dark mornings , high prices and large ginger ladies hanging about on street corners.. yes thats is Costa Del Scunthorpe .

LETS NOT FORGET ... in many cases the Thai missus's do have to put up with a lot of our expat oddness and do in fact "take care" in many ways including very importantly old age .. we seem to meet lots of very happy content expat /Thai couples via our business and long may it continue ...

At the end of the day you only live once and you cant take your 3m Thai Baht, deposited in a Thai bank account for the forthcoming Retirement visa, with you to the Pearly Gates or the Fires of Hell.......

So who would you rather spend your later years, shuffling around Central Plaza with.......

glalt wrote:Maybe to biggest mistake guys make is thinking that Thai women are going to be subservient and obey the master. Women all over the world are women and you have to give them some respect. My wife is anything but subservient. That suits me because no way would I want a clinging vine. Some may be clinging vines but that doesn't last nor does the marriage. Some younger girls are very jealous but that is the result of their insecurity. Guy may think that their jealousy is cute but it soon becomes irritating and leads to major problems.

The worst problem a man can have is a girl who has a gambling habit. Drugs are bad but gambling is worse. They will not give it up regardless what they promise you. They will beg, borrow, steal or sell their body to support their habit.
My wife has a gambling habit. She spends almost every day at the casino. I had to serve her first with the divorce papers, I didn't want to get in trouble with the tax man later if I got audited. So she is now compelled to provide the court a financial affidavit. She isn't happy about that. I believe that she has a significant amount of underreported income. Her prostitution fed this I am sure, she was making enough it apparently didn't make a dent in her profits, apparently. I just worry about our kids.

I had a Brit friend who got his visas from a Pattaya visa service. He could not qualify for income and had no money in the bank to qualify for a retirement extension. He hooked up with a local Issan girl. She was no beauty but really not that hard to look at. My friend had health problems and he was morbidly obese. It came to the point that she had to help him out of his chair and take him to the bathroom. He then fell down and broke both his arms. That made taking care of him a really difficult problem, both arms in casts. I have no idea why she continued to take care of him other than she apparently loved him and knew he had no place else to go. He had some sort of income from the UK government but it wasn't a lot. He finally passed away and since they were not legally married she had to fight to get permission to take care of his cremation ceremony. He was in a hospital freezer for several months before she had the legal UK permissions.

I tell this story to show that there are some really good Thai women. She was a saint. Some of the guys up here knew him and can verify the story.
