Still gets my vote as the best burger (Alaskan) in Udon Thani.

It is immaterial as to whether a BK or McD is going to be sited at the UD Centre, nothing could match the quality and affable service at Ning and her family's establishment.

Located on the Nongsamrong Rd., about 80 meters from the Nongsamrong/Ring Road traffic light. TJ's has been a great place for farang food for many years. My fellow golfers and I go there several times a month. Besides the great hamburger try their chicken burger... you won't believe the serving size. \:D/

UdonMap G3, "Western Restaurant", ie Nong Samrong turnoff on the Ring-Road, a hundred or so metres on your right. Open 0900 to 2200.

Denz:

In answer to your question, yes, they have Thai food.

It's very tasty (IMHO, but I'm not Thai...)

I been going to TJ's since 1993. The food has been consistently excellent and fairly priced.

why would you want to eat Thai food at a farang style restaurant?

Most farang restaurants charge 2 to 3 times as much for Thai food, because the farangs wife or GF will order it and the farang will just pay

there are some very good Thai restaurants in Udon

OT is perfectly happy to send his wife to a Thai restaurant to spend 100 baht whilst I go to a falang restaurant with unlimited resources to stuff my face with falang food, beer and hopefuly have conversation with a WFB. However, some falangs are joined at the hip with their TW/TGF, sometimes through choice and sometimes not and they will always eat together. Now if you stuff a Thai WFB who weighs around 45 kilo with falang food for any length of time she will soon become an well unfit bird so it is in the interest of the falangs to feed their teeluck on morsels of Thai food whatever the price.
Hope this answers your question jonny_w.

OT.................. \:D/

its a case of reverse farang pricing that p1sses me off

if I want to eat the best Thai foods, I go to the best places in Udon for different things, and it is reasonably priced

3 years and 3 months (Oct 2008 - Jan 2012). Is that the biggest gap ever between consecutive posts on an udonmap thread?

Never tried the burgers, but being a "southern boy" from the U.S. I was delighted to discover they have GRITS! I eat breakfast there at least twice a month. Anyone know a local market where I can find grits?

No grits in all of Thailand...Ning (owner/operate) usually mail orders or has friends bring some when visiting. Familiar with SOS (chipped beef on toast), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/----_On_a_Shingle she serves it, not on the menu have to ask for it.
