Back to the OP.Madcuff the link below was about Eddies xmas dinner and pricing for last year and a mention from Ron about an alternative at Castle Chow.
Have checked Good Everything website and no xmas dinner menu yet.You may have to wait for a little bit longer for the businesses to get their menus organised.

For other forumites some interesting price variance if buying the bird from a supermarket for homecooking, have to see if prices have gone up since then. 8)

LA, a true American, is referring to Thanksgiving Day on the 4th Thursday of November each year, which by the way is the 27th of November this year.

Now back on subject. There may be a couple of places that will have a Christmas dinner, Irish Clock, maybe TJ's, Everything Good, and just maybe Mojo's. Those are the ones I can think of, well another but can't mention on the board. [-X :-# Just keep checking the forum and you will see where the Christmas dinners may be at this year. I am very sure they will be posted soon enough.

A Christmas dinner.....well, This is a bit off track. But as we all know, there is a lot of hardship and poverty here in this great country.
While we are scoffing into our turkey and all the trimmings etc, there are kids out there with best a bowl of noodles and a bit of fish. That's their xmas/new year treat!
I find it hard to enjoy a Xmas feast. when these poor kids have so little, and so little future.I find it does me in with conscience.
I vote we all dont have Xmas dinner! Invite some local poor unprivilage kids for a good once a year Thai feast!
Have great Xmas dinner folks .... but please look over your shoulder. Take care

The Udon Chapter of the VFW used to put on a very nice Christmas party every year. It was open to the entire community, both Thai and farang. Held at Nong Prajak Park. Complimentary Thai & Western food and soft drinks & water. Christmas music being played over the sound system. Santa Claus was there giving out gifts to all the children. It was a lovely event.
The last one took place Christmas 2005. I'm not sure what happened to the tradition?

Perhaps Morti, you can resurrect the tradition? In fact, I'm going to place your name Khun Morti, in nomination, to be chairman of this years event. You've got two months to get it together. Count me in to be part of the committee. We could call it the 1st annual Udonmap Christmas Party.

Wouldn't that would be something!Great Idea. But how do you sort out the needy from the greedy?
Chairman? me? Nah wouldn't know where to start! But I know someone may do.But I will try.Someone in the know could get it started.
A merry Christmas and GOODWILL TO ALL!

Mods...perhaps now would be a good time to split this thread into three separate topics:
1. Christmas Food =P~
2. Let's Make Christmas Merry For Those Less Fortunate :(
3. Christmas...Bah Humbug

and perhaps for good measure, one in the debate section:
Christmas and It's Religious Significance vs. Cultural/Commercialization Impact on Thailand

Is everyone happy now?

One of the reasons I chose this country was not to avoid Christmas but to avaoid the commercialism that surrounded it, I remember once complaining bitterly to a store manager in Blighty that Xmas decs in September was unacceptable, as I did in in a reasonably loud voice he relented as many other people agreed with me.

Christmas Dinner is part of our tradition, I do not bemoan the Thais with theirs so I do not think they object to ours, one can purchase a Butterball turkey at Makro, most other stuff you can either make or buy.

As for the needy well so often it is hard to discern who is needy or greedy, i give what I can to whom I want, this country there may be many people here who appear to be needy, but personally when the religious council of this country state that un-employed men should become Monks, one does wonder, as then everyone else feeds them.

So I will pass on the party for the needy, pass on the party for greedy and enjoy my dinner either with friends at a local hostelery or with the family and friends at my house, all welcome to pop in for a tipple should you be passing, but as O work as well maybe Christmas day will be on the 26th for festive food etc.

Sorry to be damp squib but this is Thailand and it is Buddist, although most children and even stores seem to embrace the Christmas Spirit, why I do not know, maybe they think they make money out of it, at lkeast I do not get asked what are you buying me for Christmas here, that in itself is a blessing.
So to all of you, I will wish you : an early : Compliments of the Season , to come in the not too distant future. :|

Havnt seen it yet BM, but will give it a go if given a chance. Usually I refuse to give any film with christmas in the title a chance. Just too boring. But there is one called `Bad Santa`with Billy Bob Thornton. Hillarious, can recommend it. :D

We, the family and friends have been going to Steve and Marlie's establishments for the last 5-6 years be it the original Steve's Bar, Steve's Bar on the ring-road and latterly The Irish Clock. I can honestly say that at no time have we been disappointed, the staff dress in their Christmasy outfits the places were pleasantly decorated and the food superb. It all adds to the festive occasion, and the children love it after all isn'tChristmas for the kids? As Rick pointed out be sure to book to avoid disappointment. Enjoy!

Now this is the type of response i was looking for.The full traditional fare and all the girls dressed up in Santa suites(sorry staff). No matter what's going on outside. It doesn't matter if your in timbuktu or in santa's grotto in the north pole,as long as you've got it as authentic as possible. All i want is for my 2 year old lad to experience Christmas in his second homeland.
Thanks goodison for posting that =D>
