Dose Espresso - Nice Bistro Across from Maeya (Sponsor)

Post by rct » April 23, 2014, 2:42 pm

DOSE Espresso is opposite Maeya in the back corner of the new shophouses, with an ample parking lot in front (parking sometimes charged at 20 baht). Funghi's owner/chef is cooperating here now.

This is not a member review as I do not have all the info to provide, though we do enjoy their various foods and usually go for lunch or dinner for salads, pasta, desserts, quality ice cream at reasonable prices, and of course they have a full coffee and smoothie menu. This morning I had Spanish Eggs (115 baht) which was very tasty and unique to Udon. I believe they open and 09h00.

A DOSE partner lived in Australia for five years and seems to be tuned in to contemporary western dishes, well presented, and in a nice cosy atmosphere.

I popped in for a look-see as I was at the post office next door. The place was packed with a lunch crowd....very nice cozy place, several items on the menu caught my attention. pizza, mussels, caesar salad with beef strips.......and a full up coffee menu. No time to eat today.....but if you go, please take some photos of the dishes.

The owner speaks excellent English. Looks like a must-try place in Udon.

Dose Espresso has a supply of Udonmap maps and booklets inside. I asked if they are a "sponsor" and the partner said they bought a small ad. She was not sure, nor am I, if that advertising would qualify them as a sponsor on the forum.

Udonmap, you can clarify to everyone!

Dose should reopen today or tomorrow, after a few days closure due to moving the kitchen to the back of the shop, to create more seating in the front.

I think you find its wrong Bob.
Its the area with the buildings with green roofs and parking area on your goole map. By the Post office Ratcha Phatsadu Alley.

Dose Espresso is P16 on UM. It's on the same side of Srisuk as the satellite post office and Maya Restaurant.

I stopped by today for a cappuchino with a friend. Greeted at the door.....and told 'Grab a seat and I'll be right with you'....the sort of street English that grabs your attention, especially in the wilderness known as Udon.
My friend and I both ordered hot cappuchinos.....and they were very coffee creamy and delicious, works of art as well.

I couldn't resist ordering a steak salad to take home.....haven't tried it yet, but judging by what I see in the box, it'll make a nice meal.

On the way out, I noticed their coffee specials.....Kenya, single origin coffee! My my my.....how Udon is growing up!

I've eaten at Dose Espresso (or taken out) 6 times......never a disappointment with the food. Steak salad, margarita pizza, seafood pizza, garlic bread, seafood pasta, and today.....grilled chicken breast, garlic bread, and passionfruit juice, topped off with a slice of Belgian chocolate cake and a shot of machhiato. The food is for the eyes and stomach.....big eaters might be disappointed, but if you're packing size 32 Levis and enjoy a change from the mundane, this is a go-to place.
The machhiato is made with Monte Christo coffee beans and is tops......although the same could be said for the Belgian chocolate cake.....they go together like soup and sandwich.
A very pleasant addition to the dining choices in Udon.
