yrs and yrs ago a thai-american breakfast was
something like a small portion of fried rice, a piece of fried chicken, couple fried eggs, silly little
sausage links and toast&jam. 1 lettuce leaf1 tomato slice. the english brekkie is admittedly better. with after meal heart meds/mints standard

Ditch the lettuce and tomatoes and you will have a proper U.S./Canadian breakfast. I think it is the British who go for those unwanted items in the morning.

Last time I was in Canada (not exactly last week), the breakfast served at our motel in Calgary was the biggest plate of grilled and fried food for a single person that I had seen since leaving the clan cave. Triple eggs, bacon, hash browns, pancakes and everything else with not a lot of room to maneuver. I was feart. Even after moving to Texas, I never saw a breakfast plate that matched those monster Canuck servings. The only shared blessing on that side of the pond was no bloody baked beans!

I guess the big, rufty tufty Alberta oil and gas men do raisin bran and spinach quiche these days.

This is true. Furthermore, the oil workers and cowboys are big on kale and yogurt with a cup of Lipton's tea to wash it down with.

Garnish? This is Thailand. If it's on the plate, it's for eating.

It is garnish ,your not supposed to eat it . if you do you depriving the kitchen staff of their lunch . its like ordering pizza and they put in 30 small packs of ketchup ,appears like your getting more for your money . but your not supposed to put 30 packs of ketchup on it .
So who here actually eats the garnish ? Come on own up ya cheap smucks

My ideal American breakfast is two eggs with runny yolks but not runny whites. Two slices of toast with genuine butter and fruit jam. Several slices of streaky bacon, well cooked but not crispy. Real tasty sausages but not those little hot dogs. Finally potatoes fried with onions and not those french fried crap patties. A glass of orange juice and good brewed coffee. Ham is hit and miss, mostly miss using those thin pressed tasteless slices. No tomatoes, beans or those horrible baked little lumps of something that the Brits seem to love.

Muffins and crumpets are totally different animals not the same at all.

Crumpet batter is just that: a loose batter. English muffins are made from a more firm dough. ... Crumpets are cooked only on one side, so the bottom is flat and toasted while the top is speckled with holes (delicious, butter-absorbing holes…). English muffins are more bread-like and are toasted on both sides.

A couple of proper English crumpets pictured here. According to the Yorkshire Standard Dictionary, "muffin" is a verb and describes what some lads do with such crumpets.

Its also the name of a famous mule ..

For all.our non English members ..as,well as a smashing breakfast or supper time treat ..... crumpet is slang for a nice looking pretty shapely young lady .. muffin also has a secondary meaning other than a bread like food item... but im.far too much of a gentleman to divuldge as my local vicar would tell me off at this weekends sunday service .

Back on the brekkie front ..i got some Mcgarrets quick oats to try n do porridge tomorrow morning .
