You really need to stop drinking the conservative kool-aid, noosard.

The government is a long way from broke - and after 18 month in the chair, it is time for them to stop blaming the last mob. [-X

Ah! ronan - your neo-con mob have set a new, western democracy world record for provable, bare-faced lying and blame shifting ...... and all you can say is "look over there".

What does Pickering have to say about it? ;)

Australia did NOT have a recession during the GFC. FACT
No, because it was the middle of a mining boom, the boom of a century.

Australia did well, for a while, despite Wayne Swans mismanagement - did he ever deliver a surplus?

He promised one every year, but think he failed to deliver.

Whining Bill Shorten, what has he done? except help ruin an economy and knife 2 prime ministers in the back

Oh, and he wants to have a carbon tax again and return to the failed boat policy - plonker - the man who wont be prime minister.

I think the Europeans including the Brits have much more reason to worry about debt than Australia. Howard, Rudd and Gillard left Australia in a very good position compared to other countries. Sure adjustments are needed but they can be done.

I think Smoking Joe needs to get on and start them and I reckon he isn't going to manage that unless he takes equity issues into account. The neo-cons don't control the Senate and possibly not the Liberal Party either. Put your brain into gear Joe.

For the bleeding heart liberal socialists, I'd love to trade Obama for the Aussie prime minister. Think about that.

Doesn't require much thought - even by a socially aware, old fashioned liberal like me. \:D/

Wouldn't work - Obama would be too conservative in Oz, and Abbott would be way too liberal in the US for the Tea Partiers and rednecks. [-(

psst! - he supports gun control :yikes:

Leftard totalitarians still think climate change is the greatest moral challenge of our generation.

Whining Bill Shorten wants a carbon tax, same as Obama.

Tax carbon and eat the rich.

Tax carbon and reduce income tax. Only the communists are against that trade-off.

true the goverment has not cut any spending and is still borrowing faster than then when little Johnny was running the show
Sooner or later there will be big cuts or bigger tax bills to be paid

Where the Australain goverment is going

Nigel Ray, deputy secretary of Treasury's fiscal group confirmed at a Senate hearing today that the current fiscal settings would never move the budget from the red to the black.

"There is no surplus across the 40 year projection period," he said.

Surpluses could only be achieved by making difficult decisions.

"There would need to be either the Government's announced policy or some replacement for them," Mr Ray said.

Those sentiments were echoed in conversations the ABC has had with senior bureaucrats who said that the Government has not settled on a consistent approach to the budget.

They believe there is now little appetite in Government for any more Budget repair.

"We can make the bullets," one said.

"But someone has to fire them."

I hope when Abbott says good government started some weeks ago that he now thinks Pyne has failed to live up to the new standard. The mincing poodle is a fool.

If Abbott can't deliver a respectable budget then disaster is looming in that even bigger adjustments will be needed later. Given Abbott seems pretty ignorant on economic matters, he needs to replace Hockey who looks a bigger clown as the months pass. Abbott and Hockey don't seem to have the balls to whack the entitlement mentality of the Liberal supporters. Buddha help Australia.

I'm bored

I'm the chairman of the bored,
I'm a lengthy monologue
I'm livin' like a dog

I'm bored

I bore myself to sleep at night
I bore myself in broad daylight coz

I'm bored
Just another slimy bore

I'm free to bore my well-bought friends
And spend my cash until the end coz

I'm bored
I'm bored

I'm the chairman of the board

I'm sick
I'm sick of all my kicks
I'm sick of all the stiffs
I'm sick of all the dips

I'm bored

I bore myself to sleep at night
I bore myself in broad daylight coz

I'm bored
I'm bored

Just another dirty bore

All right doll-face
Come on and bore me

I'm sick
I'm sick of all my kicks
I'm sick of all the stiffs
I'm sick of all the dips

I'm sick

I'm sick when I go to sleep at night
I'm still sick in the broad daylight coz

I'm bored
I'm bored

I'm the chairman of the. . .

BORED!

Well if OT has been listening to Iggy Pop this morning he'll be having a better day than yesterday and I can risk boring him again ........................... \:D/

I see Malcolm Fraser has died today. He'll be missed. Long after his years in political office I think he made a big contribution. He was a heavy lifter.
