Okay all you so-called special forces, Se4als and other people get swinging the lamp, lets see how many outrageous stories you can all come up with while you rewrite history .
Remember the OLD forces saying those who did never talk about it. ..............................ha ha ha

How about just letting the historians get on with joining the dots on stuff that's already been in the public domain but just needed some of the blanks filled in?

You were alive around then. Was Edward VIII a popular k ing?

Never mind, I just had a quick gander at his wiki. He didn't even last a year but this pearl was gleaned, "He was created Prince of Wales on his 16th birthday, seven weeks after his father succeeded as k ing. As a young man, Edward served in the British Army during the First World War and undertook several overseas tours on behalf of his father. While Prince of Wales, he engaged in a series of sexual affairs that worried both his father and then-British prime minister Stanley Baldwin."

I just noticed the thread title was not a question and didn’t pick up it was One of the WWs.
But during the American war, well that’s what the Vietnamese called it, I was in HS and starting my apprenticeship.

During the 'American war' we (as in GIs in Thailand) insured the local economy did not collapse. Seeing the country now, it looks like it worked.

Born post WW!! , Aden 67 the only minor conflict . Obviously NI but not a conflict called Peace keeping ( complete B/S ) everything else was nothing to mention.
In another job for the Middle Eastern conflicts and certainly never went to Vietnam , although did meet up and drunk with many US personnel on R and R in Hong Kong

Which war?
I lived in Birmingham when the IRA were bombing it on a weekly basis. I worked evenings in the town centre and it was hell getting home, glass everywhere and the cops trying to stop you walking through the city centre (not very effectively).
I did get strafed by a Libyan plane during a coup against Gaddafi - but they hit the next beach.

I was in Eastern Europe during the Kosovo war.

As i have signed the Official secrets act i cannot say anymore!

During this current War I'm enjoying lots of beer. Have knocked the Russian Vodka on the head though as a sign of solidarity to the Ukrainians.

I was in the US Navy heading to the South Pole on an icebreaker. My best friend in the Navy got orders for a riverboat in Vietnam. His boat was sunk and he was a POW overnight, stuck in a bamboo cage hanging from from a tree. The very next day the Aussies over ran that camp and massacred everything in the village. He got his choice of duty stations after that and chose Perth Australia. He then married an Aussie woman. He told me that he would have been better off being a POW. I don't think he was joking but it was funny.

Finnish vodka is very good. I recall being presented with a couple of bottles of Kazakh vodka by a client in Almaty once. That was REALLY good but it's finished too.
