The ORGANIC Craze. What does it all mean

Post by Doodoo » March 26, 2023, 12:47 pm

We keep on hearing new words and one is ORGANIC. What is it really telling us?

Products keep on popping up in the Markets . Here is a partial list
Organic chicken or bone broth
Organic Olive Oil
Organic Pancake Mix
Organic Ground Coffee
and so on.

I guess they, the sellers are trying to capture a gullible consumer

Anything tagged wit the word organic usually means the vendor is gonna be charging more ... for what ?? is the question as very little proof is on hand to confirm a product is actually organic ..its happening in the alcohol / beverage brewing business now and as a bizz colleague of mine says .. its a license to charge more for more or less the same product just with the word organic on the label and in the marketing blurb.

Started in the major supermarkets now being seen in the local markets more n more.

Can anyone actually say for example an organic carrot tastes better than anon organic carrot ??? ive tried both beer forms and exactly the same except one was 30bt more expensive.

It means something in a lot of the Western world where organic farms etc have to certified, I would suggest it means diddly in TH.

Just as bad is Halal certified. Hallal corn flakes, Hallal, milk etc. Islamic councils are making a motza certifying products.
I had a bumper sticker in Texas that read 'Beam me up Scotty'. I often wish I could find one in Udon Thani

Are we saying that just coz a farmer has a field "certified" it makes his product organic?

If smoke etc from fires in Laos/Myanmar/Cambodia can be carried 600+ km to BKK, how do they stop the pesticides etc being sprayed on fields a few km away from contaminating his supposedly "organic" produce?

To answer the OP, it means that some people are happy to pay a premium for food they believe is not full of assorted chemicals, poisons and GMOs.

Quite a different concept to halal or kosher certification.

If it helps, statts, bullshhiit is quite often in the eye of the beholder.

Not sure that will be of much comfort to statts.

over here and many places in the States just a hook to get folks to buy something. How many products have you seen that blared "No cholesterol" when as a non animal product there never was any in it. Or, "Gluten Free!!!" in a product that never had gluten ever...
