NFL Star: They Speak English In London?

http://www.myfoxphilly.com/myfox/pages/ ... geId=3.4.1

Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has admitted not knowing people speak English in London.

The NFL player might want to check a map to see where he's playing Sunday's prestige game against the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium.

Crowder, who comes from Atlanta in Georgia, may be praised on the field, but confessed geography was not his strong point.

He admitted he did not know until now where London was - or that Londoners spoke English.

"I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries," he said.

"I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that."

Crowder added: "I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him.

"That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name."

The Miami Dolphins play the New York Giants at Wembley this Sunday in the first NFL regular-season game to be played outside the United States.

But where is England?

Somewhere near New England? Isn't that the North East corner of the world?

Have you heard of Ebonics?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ebonics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebonics

Next, Americans will all be speaking Spanish as a first language. Or Ebonics.

God help the USA.

ebonics

The language of the gangstas and negroes.

Ebonics: "Yo G, you frontin me?"

English: "Excuse me, my peer, are you attempting to influence me to engage in a violent action with you?"

Ebonics: "You gots to git those Benjamins so you cin git dat bling-bling fo yo ride"

English: "You need to get money so that you can get expensive accessories for your car."

He might not actually be dumb at all.
Sometimes it isn't that easy to find someone in London who was actually born in the UK, let alone who speaks English that an American could actually understand... :D

Canning Chowder(The guy who don't know what nothing is) wrote:"I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that."
He knows Italy looks like a boot, and the nearest thing to London is a mate who is called London but he black so he can't be from London, and he is sure thats a coincidental name.
#-o Is he going to be surprised when he gets to Wembley, let alone London Town. What a guy...

The ebonics is usual white youngster wanna-be gangsta talk among some of the boys and girls in the UK now.

"Are sea im at Asdas larst weak."

This is typical 'chavspeak' (apologies to George Orwell).

Yep, Britain is one sad place now. Check this Web site out. It's funny but disturbing too, in its own way:

Disturbing in the fact that it exists - certainly.

Funny - guess it depends on your sense of humour!

Something many people outside the U.S.A. may not realize is that virtually every player in the National Football League attended college. In Channing Crowder's case, he was a student at the University of Florida for two years.

I'm sure the alumni are proud of him!

A Houston Police Officer was fired this week. Seems he has worked gangs for a few years and now was a SRO ( school resourse officer ) at a local high school.
He made up a "Ghetto Handbook or Wacha dun did now" filled with fun ebonic common phrasology..
The school district fired him ( easy to do ) and now HPD is looking at giving him grief.

Sad part on this whole NFL thing is that like someone said earlier..99.9% of 'em have college degrees, most likely in "current events" and were passed on because of thier ability to play football, not on thier ability to comprehend must less speak.
And yes, most make up to several millions each year.
The NFL holds classes every year to the new incoming players. They teach 'em how to use a checkbook, writing out bills, and generally how to live as an adult.
Remember these are college graduates ( most of 'em and the rest several years of junior college )

I live in Phoenix and the common language here now is spanish.
I wonder if there is a spanish ebonics?
"que paso pinche' parro??"

It is uncommon to find a professional sports figure that hasn't benefitted from his University education now days as most of the Universities have developed the student athlete approach now where as before, they focussed on only getting the best athlete.

IMO,you would be wrong to brand the majority of Pro athletes as ignorant!

Ignorant- not at all.
Street smart - extremely

There are several players in the league who hold MD's and PHD's. Some are US military academy grads ( which is no easy degree- all sciences, no fluff )
Most are very articulate, classy type folks..the media revels on the dumb, criminal, outrageous ones who seem to make most of the headlines...well the bafoon headlines like the issue here..cannot even speak.
Yes, the days of old, where the degree was for the sport, not the education are gone.
Hopefully...( don't know why I even give a rats arse...I think teachers, fire, police, soldier should make as much as they do or more... )

But did he attend and if so what did he do there?
