Is Thaksin as corrupt as many or maybe most politicians? That includes Uncle Joe,Trump and the US congress.
Leaving non-Thailand politicians out of it, I think you would be hard pressed to name one non-corrupt Thai political leader since 1933. Thaksin gained immense popularity from the middle class and farmers because he promised to make their lives better and he delivered.
However, he angered military elites and others by indicating he was going to makes some fundamental changes. For instance, the head of the Privy Council (advisor to the monarch) was appointed by a top military official. Thaksin argued that this appointment should be made by the head of the civilian government, namely him. This irritated the military and other elites no end. They organised a coup charging Thaksin with corruption, an easy thing to prove, and anti-royalist sentiments (this did not seem to be true).

One wonders what he has done recently to anger the military and the elites. Is it over Prawit and Big Joke (Prawit's client)?

What does this mean other than the obvious?
Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, meanwhile, denied any involvement in the 40 senators’ move against Mr Srettha, saying that although some of them are his friends or close associates, they have their own stance on the matter.
A close associate of former prime minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is now a member of the Privy Council, also dismissed speculation that Gen Prayut had something to do with the senators’ move, even though some of them are former classmates from the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School.
Just over 100 of the 250 outgoing senators are serving or retired military and police officers and all of them were appointed by Gen Prayut and Gen Prawit.

It means exactly the same as it meant in 2014 in that there will not be a coup.

My Thai wife is always amused by the politicians buying votes. She takes the money and votes for whomever she chooses.

I'm pretty sure she's not unique in that regard. I think the impact of vote buying in Thailand is somewhat diminished compared to back when Thaksin was first elected, if not before.
He's trying to shore up diminished PT support in the PAO mayoral elections in Udon (once) but will he making a couple of visits to Surin ahead of the same elections there.
Apparently, he was over in Bandung as well so did anyone collect their hah-loy over there?

Not really Tam.
My wife's uncle has been up for local Tesabahn elections for as long as we have been up here.
Candidate for election he always walks round the Soi's giving 100 Baht to people for the promise of their vote.
Never seen anyone turn down the bribe.
Must be worth the investment for the winning candidate.

I think you missed my point. I didn't say it doesn't happen insmuch as it doesn't guarantee a vote like it used to. Thaksin doles out 500 baht notes and leaves. The FF guy drops by next, does the same and leaves. The BJT chap is last, drops the cash and leaves. If your wife's uncle thinks he's buying a vote, up to him, but chances are, the oiks will either vote for the last guy due to their short attention span, whoever they want, or spoil their ballot because they're bladdered on lao khao.
Now THERE'S a point. When is this PAO election? They stop selling alcohol for those, no?

Think we are on the same page Tam.
Point is that the money just seems to be a small bonus for the people. They know whoever is in the seat either at national or local level they will only try to do anything for the people if way more than the paltry bribe amount is offered as an incentive to actually do something.

That was the preparations for Loy Katoey, buggerall to to with Thaksin. I still managed to get to FES@CCW in time.

He also did a show in Ban Dung.
TSM is in neither Khumpawapi nor Ban Dung.
