Shadow of uncertainty falls over Thai polls

Post by RLTrader » March 26, 2019, 7:11 am

Partial result announced on Monday failed to clarify whether pro- or anti-military parties are likely to form the next government – or if the process was even legitimate

Thailand’s coup-ousted Peua Thai party won the most out of 350 constituency seats up for grabs at Sunday’s general election, the country’s Election Commission announced in anticipated results released today based on a 95% vote count.

Peua Thai won 40.1% of the seats (140), outpacing Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha’s Palang Pracharat (PPRP) military proxy party, which won 27.9%. Bhumjaithai (11.3%), the Democrats (9.6%) and Future Forward (8.7%) placed third, fourth and fifth respectively, the preliminary results showed.

This wouldn’t be Thailand if there wasn’t a scandal with the election. There is a petition to impeach the EC. Everything will have to be put on hold until after the coronation if the parties can’t agree.

The Future Forward party may hold the key to Pheu Thais ability to form a government.

I predict Prayut Chan-ocha as prime minister with business as usual. The military will continue to control everything.

You and LS have at least 10 other threads to talk nonsense about other countries politics.
Leave this to what some may find interesting in the country they now reside in.
