So, what's new? Antarctic sea ice was the lowest on record in June. Arctic sea ice was the 2nd lowest for June. June was the warmest June on record (global average). 2019 so far looks like the 2nd or 3rd warmest year on record - and no El Nino so far to make it eve hotter.

Nothing to see here, just the usual global warming trends.

Another believer in the AGW scam meets with reality.

‘We had expected more melting’: Thick Arctic ice forces Norwegian climate research icebreaker to turn back

"Global warming research ship forced to retreat due to 'massive' Arctic sea ice! "The ship will monitor the environmental and climate conditions in marine areas in the Arctic and Antarctic," according to its website. The ship is designed to "perform a range of research missions, including climate change."

The research vessel and icebreaker "Crown Prince Haakon" turned almost 85 degrees north. They went northeast of Svalbard on their way to the North Pole, but met thicker and more massive sea ice than expected."...Thick one-year ice, combined with large batches of multi-year ice. In many places, wind and ocean currents have pushed the ice together into powerful helmets, and several of these are impenetrable to us," says Captain Johnny Peder Hansen.

The ice is still 3m (10ft) thick, in mid-July. Even the researchers’ long special-purpose chainsaws proved hopeless, while the 20,000 horsepower Kronprins Haakon, at a cost of USD $175 million, failed miserably at attempts to push through. “In the middle of July, we saw a few signs of thawing and [assumed] that spring had come, said Captain Hansen, who for several decades has worked on various vessels in the Arctic. “We had expected more melting.”

and dumb asses think just because the average temp is rising everywhere will be hotter, they seem to think it will be 20c at the poles and 20c at the equator , just like the states ,unusual wet spring and a jolly nice weekend this week, issan in a 50 year lack of rain and if it continues it could turn out to be the biggest drought ever known here.
climate change = weather disruption. “In the middle of July, we saw a few signs of thawing and [assumed] that spring had come, said Captain Hansen, who for several decades has worked on various vessels in the Arctic. “We had expected more melting.” that is exactly what they mean , they thought spring had come , but it hadn't ,because climate change is occurring . As for scientists getting rich that's laughable, but oil company lobbyists have made a killing

How predictably eloquent. Only a Believer would argue a claim that no one made anywhere in this entire thread. Another straw man.

So when are Believers going to tell us how they plan to reverse, slow or stop it? Nothing consistent from Believers other than alarmism and hair-on-fire predictions with no predicted results and data that is repeatedly refuted by reality.
climate change = weather disruption.
Duh. Someone was awake for a bit in junior high science class.

Yes, climate change is occurring. And?

Yet another opportunity for Believers to show us how they will slow, stop or reverse climate changes and thwart Mother Nature. No provable solutions with measurable results. Just more hair-on-fire alarmism. Again and again and again. Believers can't even control weather -- a daily component of climate -- and yet, they want us all to believe that they can control the entire climate worldwide. Affect hurricanes? Tornadoes? Volcanoes? Nope, but they want us to believe that they can control the forces that CAUSE those weather and geological phenomenons. Their data hasn't been correct. Their predictions haven't been correct. Believers have been exposed fudging their data, but they still expect everyone to just fall in line with their stuff.
As for scientists getting rich that's laughable, but oil company lobbyists have made a killing
No one said scientists were getting rich. Another straw man. What is being said is that they're pushing their alarmism to get grants. Some would say that the grant-seeking scientists have also made a killing.

(Bloomberg Opinion) -- The announcement that 11 billion tons dropped off the Greenland Ice Sheet in one day turned out to be a made-for-television example of the effects of climate change. Dramatic videos of water pouring off the glaciers went viral. But apart from the occasional spectacular image, it’s hard to focus the attention of the news media on the Greenland Ice Sheet. And that’s too bad.

Because it’s worse than you thought.

Consider: According to NASA’s National Snow & Ice Data Center, between June 11 and June 20 of this year, the Greenland Ice Sheet (or GIS) lost an estimated 80 billion tons of ice. That’s an average of 8 billion tons every 24 hours for 10 days, a record warming event. But there was hardly a whisper of news coverage, perhaps because there weren’t any exciting videos.

Maybe the old cliché is true after all: A picture is worth a thousand words. After all, the GIS has been melting for decades. The tough part is getting people to pay attention. In northeast Greenland the sheet is vanishing even faster than climate models predict. Recent research has shown that the most rapid melt is in southwest Greenland, where the glaciers by and large don’t terminate in the sea. This result, which took many climate scientists by surprise, tends to confirm rising temperatures rather than changing ocean currents as the cause.

Yes, it’s possible that Greenland’s ice sheet actually grew slightly in 2017. It’s also possible that snowfall in 2017 and 2018 roughly balanced the mass of ice loss. But before climate-change skeptics bombard me (@StepCarter) with snide told-ya-so’s, bear in mind these are only possibilities. Unfortunately, the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment satellite, our most sensitive measuring tool, stopped giving reliable data in 2016 and went dead during 2017. (Happily, a follow-on mission lifted into orbit in May of 2018).

Besides, recent ice growth, if any, seems to be an anomaly in a long-term melting trend. As the same Danish researchers who made the point about snowfall noted, “the neutral mass change in the last two years does not — and cannot — begin to compensate for these losses.”

Even prominent climate skeptics have begun to concede that the disappearance of the GIS is related to the globe’s changing climate. Alas, a sobering paper from the distinguished Yale economist William Nordhaus argues that we’re already too late. Absent forms of extreme restraint that will are politically impossible, writes Nordhaus, Greenland’s ice sheet is going to melt over the next few centuries, and rebuilding it will be the work of many generations.

What would be the result? A 2017 study found that the Greenland ice sheet, which as recently as 1993 contributed only 5% of the rise in sea levels, is now responsible for 25%. Melting of the GIS over the past 40 years has raised sea levels only about half an inch. According to recent modeling, however, the disintegration of Greenland’s ice is likely to raise sea levels along the East Coast of the U.S. by a minimum of 0.2 meters (about 8 inches) over the next century.(1) Unless you spend a lot of time in littoral areas, this may not sound like much, but bear in mind that those extra inches would be the starting level for future storm surges. (Yes, melting on the GIS may cause similar effects in coastal Europe.)

Algore says his mmcc prediction was accurate.

Gore said in 2006 that the world would reach a point of no return if greenhouse gases weren't reduced by 2016.

Algore's response:
“[S]ome changes, unfortunately, have already been locked in place. Sea level increases are going to continue to matter what we do now. But, we can prevent much larger sea level increases. Much more rapid increases in temperature. The heatwave was in Europe. Now it’s in the Arctic. We’re seeing huge melting of the ice there. So, the warnings of the scientists 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago, unfortunately, were accurate.”
Yeah, so tell us specifically -- in a measurable way -- how you're gonna slow, stop or reverse it, Al. I'm guessing that since 2016 was your cutoff date, we have no hope.

These statistics surprised me and provided a better understanding on how and why a major heat wave causes great distress among Europeans.

"90% of American households have air conditioning. As do 86% of South Koreans, 82% of Australians, 60% of Chinese, 16% of Brazilians and Mexicans, 9% of Indonesians and less than 5% of Europeans."

"The 2003 heat wave killed 2,000 Brits. The current heat wave has led to London being placed on a Level 3 health watch. But air conditioning in the UK still hovers at 3% of households. And every summer, the local media lectures Brits on the evils of air conditioning."

Bit of a vicious circle, isn't it!

Global warming = hotter weather = more A/C = more electricity generation = more global warming & pollution = more A/C = ad infinitum

I understand your concern Jack , being Australian and all . Australia does love coal , which is one of the biggest culprits for CO2 .
Much of the world has turned to renewable sources for electricity generation , whether partially of in some cases fully .
Australia , not so much i believe .
