worlds rivers polluted with antibiotics

Dangerous levels of antibiotics have contaminated hundreds of rivers worldwide, a pioneering UK-led study has found.

Drug pollution is one of the main ways that bacteria in the environment can build up resistance to life-saving medicines, rendering them useless.

There is also the threat of the contaminated water entering drinking supplies and the food chain.

Scientists have described the findings as "eye opening and worrying".

Researchers looked for 14 commonly used antibiotics in rivers in 72 countries across six continents and found antibiotics at two-thirds (65%) of the sites tested.

Right on FREE drugs without having to go through Government Legislation, Public acceptance,. Most of the currency in the world is laced with drugs now more, excellent!

What did we expect, we flush, chemicals, refuse, drugs and where does it go, one asks ? Few care and now the results appear

"For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction"

I'd say our parents left us an equally fkt up world. I've noticed politicians have stopped harping on about "future generations" or "our poor children". They just don't care anymore.

I would guess humanity may last another 50 to 100 years. There may still be some people around but it will be a very different world. if we don't destroy ourselves with pollution or war the advent of computers and robots will make most of humanity redundant. No work means no money, no tax's to feed our greedy governments and no way to support yourself. Think Soylent Green.

Those are depressing views. Think how the world or life has improved the last 50 years.

A great number of people have been lifted from povety, have been provided with electricity and access to potable water. Transporatation has become more available and affordable. Health services and medicines have advanced.
The internet and cell phones have put education, communication and other at most people's disposal.

Buy bottled water if in your view public water is not so good.

Sorry TJ I disagree
We may have improved in some areas but its not enough and progressing at a snails pace
Have a look at the following it is a shocker
http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/ ... -and-stats

I realize that it is full of data both good and bad

All we can do is our part while here in Thailand
Don't ask for another plastic bag when making a purchase, pick up garbage if you out for a walk, if you see a Mother and her child picking through the roadside garbage give them some baht to help them along.
Find ways to help

But a boy or man picking through garbage needs to harden up?

How ridiculously chivalrous.

How depressing this thread has become . Look on the bright side . There must be some pretty healthy fish out in the ocean with all the antibiotics they are taking .

Improved in many ways yes, but more wars and fighting, way more pollution, overcrowded cities, and in the west anyway a culture and mindset that is failing, as well as corporations controlling everything and making the cost of living skyrocket.
