I get tired of these gloom and doom stories.
I guess that is a free pass for the conscience of those of us in our 50s, 60s and 70s to fall back on if we are so inclined.

Meanwhile, the generations following us are almost certainly thinking WTF is the over-heating earth going to look like in 2030...2050.... 2100.....

Along with the small reality that humans are not the only form of life on this planet.

But certainly, the most selfish. ;)

I will be supremely disappointed if Wuhan Flu extinguishes humanity before Global Warming does.

We, as humans, have invested so much in this whole global warming narrative. It just wouldn't be fair.

There are of course young people alive today who will have to endure the coming changes. I think it's very unlikely that the increase will be limited to 1.5 degrees.

I think you're right. It's all about money. Pay the bogus carbon tax and all the problems will go away. Life will go on and whatever happens, man will survive. Corrupt politicians will continue being corrupt.

Are you confusing "truth" with "opinion"?

well, the problem is that some countries are taking proactive measures and others are still building coal burning plants and upping the carbon ante. To me, I see the predictions as being just that.. predictions. We've no idea how much the temps will increase or even if all humanity magically fell into line and decreased carbon output dramatically if it would have enough near term effect on the climate...

Does anyone know how much quicker the current crop of plastic bags decompose in relation to the ones that Tescos 7/11 etc used to use?
Strikes me that they seem far thicker, so would expect they take even longer to decompose.

i kind of agree, we're really bad at making predictions. but what we can say is the climate is changing fast. where it will end and what we can do about it you could debate about until the ice caps melt. they cant even tell if we can slow it down. i cant believe im saying this twice in one day , but its a known unknown. if we ditched all of our carbon producing tomorrow they still cant tell us if it will stop, its an unknown, but if we continue it is known what will happen. quite honestly all of us will be gone long before there's an answer.

Historically Greenland was full of trees, the Country of Dogger existed before the last Ice Melt between the English and Benelux countries hence the name Dogger Bank, The Continental shelf wasn't until after the last Ice melt .
The world has been there before everything is cyclical , only this time there are 7 billion more people, so something will have to give I think.

Just about right. Governments push through legislation and companies jump to comply only to find that they haven't been given any guidance on how to be compliant, what needs to be reported and who they report their compliance to. Whereupon the government forms a committee to review these concerns and investigate exactly what's needed, what the data actually looks like and who actually looks at it let alone uses it. Meanwhile another carboniferous tax is levied and any enterprise falling short on compliance gets a hefty fine.

Yes Dogger, I was amazed but after watching Time Team and what they have been finding and the historical records etc, England was connected to Europe by a large very fertile land which was swallowed up when the seas rose, a few tens of thousands years ago I might add. But the Vikings did build and refurbish their boats from trees on Greenland before popping over to the American continent

And there after Sir Cornelius Vermuyden, Dutch-born British engineer who introduced Dutch land-reclamation methods in England and drained the Fens and also the low marshy lands thus reclaiming all the wetlands that now for the Isle of Axholme (near Scunthorpe)

I dont believe Dogger has ever been a country KP your geography needs grooming .. its basically a sand bank / shallow water zone in the North Sea...
