Arriving in Oz on the form it asks if you have been convicted
depending on the crime whether entry is given
Oz would bar entry to sex offenders, no more questions asked
so why would they allow their own sex offenders to have passports
Exactly the same rules apply in NZ. A convicted sex offender in New Zealand is not denied having a passport. On Border Patrol TV show only last night, a Kiwi with 2 serious sex offences travelled to Australia and was refused entry. He did of course have a NZ passport despite having served two gaol terms for such offences. In that case, there was a determination by Australian immigration that there was no compelling reason for him to come to Australia. Your statement 'no more questions asked' is incorrect, they questioned him extensively.

Ditto USA, sex offenders are issued passports.

Did you read the link, noos?

Did you see something about requiring approval, prior to travelling?

The AFP says they will advise the country of entry of all details for the Oz offender (who has been assessed and deemed to be OK to travel).

It is then up to "wherever" to determine if the offender is allowed to enter. And if they skip, their passport can be cancelled while they are overseas, with all the agro that incurs. Plus the penalties when they get back to Oz.

Forget it Jack. No amount of fact or logic will sway noosard once he gets his teeth into a debate. If he is determined that Australia builds and deploys kiddie fiddler's around the world, that is for him an unassailable fact. Despite all else, it is entrenched position, bugger the merits of anybody else's more informed logic.

That seems quite sensible to me. It's good to see first world countries getting their act together in this area. I assume NZ has something similar in place.

No whistler I am not debating Jack I pointing out that the Aus government is two faced about deporting undesirables
not just sex offenders
I think they should deport them but local ones should not be allowed to obtain passports or use the ones they got

Australia's policy is identical to that in new Zealand regarding the issuing of passports to sex offenders, 100% identical.

two different subjects. One is issuing of passports, the other is the policy on deporting criminals.

You stated on this thread that Australia's policy on issuing passports to sex offenders was hypocritical, it is 100% identical to that of NZ and every other country as far as I know. You are 100% wrong in making the assertion that Australia is hypocritical on that subject.

The separate Australian policy on deporting criminals, I agree is too harsh, however that is a separate policy to that on passport issuing.

If a foreigner in the UK and your only crime is not having any passport, you're punted off to Rwanda. Amazing but true.

Nope noosard, you made the statement Australia was hypocritical. If Australia's policy was different to that of other countries, that would constitute hypocrisy. You can argue until you are blue in the face, you can conflate other issues to your heart's content, makes no difference, your statement that Australia was hypocritical on the passport issue is baseless.

Now I know you will not accept that, you never do when you have been wrong in the past, so I will not waste any more keyboard time on the issue. You are wrong, fini!

No (but only because they haven't managed to do it yet).

The Aussies excel in this kind of thing. I think even boofhead Trump expressed admiration at how Australia treats people trying to enter Australia via a boat without a visa. This issue gets Australians very passionate.
