Army General Sergey Surovikin,( General Armageddon) who has been heading up the ‘South’ grouping of troops in Ukraine and Donbass, will assume overall command of Russian forces, the Defense Ministry announced on Saturday.
According to various media reports, Surovikin was given the nickname ‘General Armageddon’ by his colleagues, citing his hardline and unorthodox approach to military operations.

Didn't some of his failed predecessors also have "Mr Scary" sort of monikers? Probably another bugger suffering from the same testosterone depletion.

As Putin I mean. Same testosterone depletion as Putin.

Well, one lane out of 4 working and rail still out. Traffic seems to be mainly one way - leaving Crimea in the rear view!

New reports are looking at a truck bomb heading South East toward the Russian boarder. Ukraine are applauding but it is still unknown who is responsible at this time.

Getting a bit fed up with the Ukrainian president crying for more and more armaments. He hasn't worked out that the US isn't about to set up another uncontrollable and largely corrupt, well-armed, well-defended and well-trained nation on the borders of NATO. Can you imagine the ego of the average Ukrainian on his world travels if they were allowed to steamroller the Russians? They would be worse than the Russians.

In line with the current policy of a drip-feed of offensive weaponry, Ukraine will get what the US deems fit for defense purposes at the time. Zelenskyy already unsuccessfully overplayed his hand by demanding an 'Iron Dome' system from Israel when Putin started this war. If you poke a bear while it is not in its cage, be prepared to suffer the consequences so shelter in place. That's what the subway is for after all.

"Getting a bit fed up with the Ukrainian president crying for more and more armaments."

I seem to remember this same line back a few years ago just that the names were different
I.e. Britain and the USA during WW2

I seem to remember this same line back a few years ago just that the names were different
I.e. Britain and the USA during WW2
WW II, started in 1939 when Britain with her allies stood up to Nazi Germany, declaring enough is enough when Poland was invaded. The USA had the Munroe doctrine which meant they did not give a toss about fighting the Axis powers. The USA was happy to sell armaments to the UK for a price, that was what lend lease was all about and why Britain shipped millions of pounds in gold to the USA to pay for arms.

The war economy in the USA helped end the great recession with the USA having a thriving economy after the war, a marked contrast to most other western nations.

The USA did very well out of that arrangement, by the time Germany declared war on the USA, Britain, Russia and other allies had already blunted the axis powers making the USA's war effort much easier. But note, Germany and Japan declared war on the USA who was dragged into the war well after it started.

Now the world is different, the USA has joined the western world saying enough is enough with the understanding that Putin, like Hitler needed to be resisted. The Western world is paying for arms in this fight, Ukraine is paying with lives and a decimated nation. Helping with arms is the least we can do.

The USA is being a better international partner now than it ever was in WW II.
