As people age they at some stage become less competent at work. It's the same for monarchs. They aren't deities. It's clearly improper for a once skilled surgeon to continue to operate once his performance has deteriorated below an acceptable professional standard. It's the same for leaders. Many people will respect the Queen's career but feel it's time she officially put her feet up.
You are forgiven for assuming that this is a PUBLIC OFFICE, it is not never has been and never will, if however it was a Public Office she has by now taught all those lying, corrupt and political entities she has met over the years what STANDARDS a Public Official should have and hold.
I think that she will reign as she promised on the DAY of her Coronation, until her dying breath and no-one should ever attempt to take that away from HM. No matter which country you come from and if that COUNTRY was or is part of the British Empire/ Commonwealth, they should be thanking her, not wishing her oblivion.

For once I agree with KP, but you just keep demonstrating what an absolute a--wipe you are. How is it a lie/falsehood?, how do you know it is??

555. Are we going to see her cognitive test results? She understandably will have slipped as she's now very old.
Here's her Christmas speech from less than 5 months ago.

Cognitive slip my arse.

The naughty seat will not be forthcoming Pratty. The Mods have recognised that the description fits you to a tee.

I will bet your mortgage that HM The Queen will not abdicate the crown unless she is mentally no longer able to carry out her duties as the Monarch. HM the Queen is very aware of the repercussions of an abdication move because of her uncle. Charles will have to wait a while yet.
PS
As a Brit, I hope Charles see's sense and passes the Crown to William before he is too much older, Charlies a good guy but getting too old.

Am I the only one who sees a gaping, intellectual disconnect between these two statements?

ps what is a mortgage, Alex?

Firstly you have no idea about intellect, so stop pretending.
The statement about Charles was a projection for when HM The Queen does her final duty and the crown is not placed on any ones head, what and why would someone in their eighty's want the responsibility.
Second, I apologise, knowing that most of you speak an Alien language I should have refrained from using a very well used and understood phrase within the normal English speaking population.

No. Even Donald Trump would see that disconnect. It's almost blinding.

She has mobility issues FFS. She's not a drooling vegetable on permanent life support like the Prime Minister.
The inability to travel to New Zealand should disqualify her to be our head of state. The UK's and NZ's interests aren't the same. That's fine. I'd rather Prince Charles became our official head of state. He's also surprisingly a 21st century dude with his environmental interests. Once seen as a bit flakey he now seems to have been ahead of the curve. I'd prefer a more modern head of state than a 96 year old. Queen Elizabeth comes from another era.

Doesn't prove anything. She's a head of state. Most countries want someone pretty sharp as their head of state. Andrew Windsor's recent appearance was a major worry. I can't wait for Charles to deal to his brother and his disrespectful son.

Having watched the Coronation in 1953 and many times sionce then, I believe34 it is as long as I live. which is basically the same thing, but some people always try to besmirch what I say because they feel good. Whatever it is up to them . Poor saps. IF I am proven wrong by events as yet unknown it wll not be a task HM will readily undertake or even want to.

So what era and at what age do you think you become totally useless to society. Remember HRH only can express her 'displeasure' at idiot politico's actions against HER people. As far as I can ascertain she carried out the normal weekly discussions with the leader of the ruling party albeit via modern technology. Can you imagine Steptoe and HRH having a discussion on what is best for the UK??? Don't care if some isolated Island full of meth users don't want her as a symbol of their past, and really no ones gives a flying whatever if you take the Union Jack of off your flag, just do it and stop girning like a wee child, WE DONT CARE.

Now I understand all those recent posts - Alex has become an Honorary Member of the the House of Windsor. :D

Bowing and scraping lessons all included.
Sorry Tissue
I have had the honour to meet HM on an individual basis twice
Once in green kit and once suited and booted. She is a quite lovely wee lady who has been meeting the likes of me and others all during her reign but does her duty as The Boss to a quite astounding level considering how long she has worn the Crown. HM could have totally ignored that we were working on her lands, but took the time and effort to visit HER soldiers while HM was on holiday. Suppose when you have a big rock as a form of identity you will fail to understand what a real sense of history is about.

Here's our "very old" head of state having a blast at the first of her Jubilee year celebrations.

Oh yes, she was escorted by one of her other boys so you can spare us the Prince Andrew butthurt.

I would sincerely suggest to all of you that if you cannot find anything sensible and polite to say about Her Majesty QUEEN ELIZABETHS, Platinum Jubilee, you keep the so-called snide and impolite and sometimes downright rude comments to yourself.
Who else has a Head of state who has served their people for the same length of time and is also cleran and corruption free. Not one country in the World`.
Her family is NOT perfect but then nobodys is. This is about her so respect not only is due , it is demanded if you cannot do that kindly shut up.
Those who su[[osed;y be;long tpo thew british Commonwealth and have her as Head of State, you can talk with disrespect because she is who she is and what she has done. Show some damn respect Thank-you

This thread is about the Queen's birthday, not a discussion about government in the U.K. Some posts have been removed, others undoubtedly will be as time allows. Please, let's stay on topic. If you wish to discuss other topics related to the U.K. or its monarchy, feel free to start a thread for that purpose.
