I think Alex is indicating that Wee Jimmy Krankie would not consider him a loyal Scot, Cali, whereas Gordon Brown would. And let's not forget that Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was the Queen's mother.

At least Gordon Brown was a grown up and probably behaved like a responsible adult when with the Queen. I'm not sure Johnson can manage that.

I barely remember Nixon taking the dollar off the gold standard as well. I guess every nation goes through that "needs must" moment.

Friday. Will the Queen of Canada be looking forward to the weekend? She isn't retired so I suppose she still has that mindset. I'm assuming she's as sharp as statts and still knows what day of the week it is.

P.S. OK, as I post it's still Thursday for the Queen of Canada.

I am no economist, but I remember back around 1980 when there were cry's of devalue the Pound/dollar exchange rate (pound was 2.4 to the $ US at the time.) The drop of nearly 20% allowed British industry or what was left of it, to become more competitive. The pound swung around 1.8 to 1.55 for the next '35' years when there was an immediate drop of 13% after the result of the EU Referendum in 2016. While there were outcry's mainly from remainer's, the former Governor of the Bank of England (the one before the Canadian xxxxxx) was making positive statements such as, it would have taken 10 more years of fiscal policy to get the pound to 'this' realistic level. So perhaps it was all in the bigger plan rather than the disasters you say it was. Brown should still be hung for the way he sold off the gold reserve though.

Stringing up the One-Eyed Idiot is probably a little over zealous, Alex. Besides, his cock ups pale into insignificence compared to the Queen's current Prime Minister and Chancellor.

"While there were outcries , mainly from remainers , the former Governor of Bank of England" Mervyn Kng

Mark Carney ? the Canadian ? He seems guilty
of being bluntly honest, but little else off there ?

Well , the sterling took a whack when brits joined
the EU . And now , after leaving, going up to 42?

The Queen of Canada should be looking forward to the weekend as much as the Queen of New Zealand. Probably because Her Majesty is pleased that she does not have to visit those God forsaken outposts of Empire anymore.

Those British explorers have a lot to answer for. Given the distance, it will be interesting to see if Prince Charles makes it out this way when he's Kxng. I think he will as I think he has a soft spot for Aussies and is bound to visit Oz as Kxng.

Hey, it's the weekend statts. Just teasing; you'll know because of the Bloody FOOTBALL!!!!! Your week clearly revolves around the Bloody FOOTBALL!!!!!

A shocking amount of underperforming, dated and loss-making brit industry was hived off off to the ****** and dotheads.

Among the winners are the proud owners of a new Jag or MG.

Repeatedly electing Tory governments does not mean they sold brit brains as well but I agree that phenomena does need proper explaining.

your recent posts are right off the rails. Are you okay? This racist rant is worthy of Khun Paul. Maybe a cozy chat with Doodoo will get your mind straight again.

You can always try and focus on the bits that are still on the rails, no?

I am quietly confident that the ethnic South Asian and Chinese UM membership can argue any perceived offence for themselves.
