Having had the "pleasure" of visiting Bradford several times in the early/mid seventies, I have to ask .....whose culture?

Perhaps they intend to sell fish n chips in the local tandooris, or hold an Easter Egg hunt at one of the local mosques

Same here, I was working in Chester for a while around 20 years ago. A team of shopfitters were staying in the same hotel, one of the guys invited me to his wedding in Bradford so off I popped. Ended up in Bradford town center (being lost) and honestly you could have been in any part of Pakistan. Did ask a few for directions to my hotel, but due to my lack of Urdoo was not able to get the required information. They tell me its even worse now with the multiple wives and breeding rates. City of Culture!! May the Gods help us.

I don't think we'd chat like this in NZ about parts of the country where there are masses of immigrants. OK, I'm making a broad generalization.

We might say some negative things but they'd be focused on specifics such as crime. And even then the negatives are more likely to be driven by say impoverished people born in NZ than the immigrants. I miss the foreigners kept out because of Covid travel restrictions.

What? You keep in touch with the shop fitters after all these years? That's nice. Some discard friendships way to casually. Some don't have friends or don't even try.

I know Bradford well. It’s no better or worse than many other cities in the UK. The only difference is the colour of the skin of the thugs which makes it seem more threatening.

Is Glasgow, for example, really different to Bradford? It’s a city with many decent and charming people with an underbelly of dickheads. Same for Liverpool, Manchester. Belfast, Bristol and even Leeds

Thanks samster. It didn't do Glasgow any harm when it became European City of Culture thirty-two years ago. I'm sure Bradford and its neighbors will benefit from this award.

There's no doubt that Glesga's year as City of Culture was a success and the inner City is a joy to behold for it's top class eateries and bars etc. It also has some top class venues for concerts. But step outside the civilised parts of the inner City and its still somewhere you don't want to walk about at night. The council estates are still as run down and dangerous as they have always been. Even Nippy Sturgeons Constituency in the Goven area could be classed as the worst in Glasgow. She takes an armed police escort with her when she does her wee visits to take more selfies. Same will happen to Bradford, the inner parts will be tarted up. But the social problems and lack of assimilating into English Culture will still be there after the Concerts and exhibitions move on to the next 'City of Culture'

Jeez, thanks for pointing out the mistake and I was a season ticket holder at Ibrox as well?? Been out of Scotland too long. Should have said GovAnhill as well. https://tfn.scot/news/sturgeons-constit ... n-scotland.
Like most cities the watersides have become sought after properties and GovAn its self waterside is no different.
