A Shadow of Darkness From the UK

Post by jackspratt » July 12, 2022, 8:49 pm

If this report checks out, it seems that it was not only Australian special forces (SAS) who were allegedly up to their necks in wrongdoing in Afghanistan.
Panorama investigation accuses UK SAS unit of murdering Afghans

British special forces soldiers allegedly killed detainees and unarmed men in suspicious circumstances during counter-insurgency operations in Afghanistan, according to a BBC investigation.

The Panorama investigation reportedly uncovered 54 suspicious killings carried out by one British SAS unit on a six-month tour of Afghanistan in 2010-2011.

It also claimed that senior officers, including former head of the British Army General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith, did not report the alleged murders and did not disclose the evidence held by UK Special Forces to the military police.......

Oh. I thought this was going to be a reflective on Kimi Badenoch's tilt at the PM's job.

I was listening to a former British army officer who is an integral part of this Panorama investigation on the radio earlier. He alleges that the SAS and SBS had a covert competition to see who could turn in the highest kill count. He was well positioned to be aware of these things but his suggestion that 'everyone knew that' was given in such a cavalier fashion, it came across as quite shockingly arrogant. This officer, fluent in Farsi and involved with the intelligence gathering and interrogation had since left the army but used his Afghan war experiences in a subsequent doctoral thesis. He alleges the army tried to prevent his thesis from being published.

I thought the British had cleared their troops of any wrong doing about two years ago ...

Like they 'cleared' 1 Para after their shenanigans in the Bogside fifty years ago?

There seems to have been a cover up. Disgraceful.

Stop, DooDoo, I think we've passed through a time warp. Is it the 1970s? Have we stumbled upon an inappropriate ITV situation comedy? Love Thy Neighbour, maybe or Mind Your Language?
