Imploding?? = Dramatizing. I would suggest "adjusting" as the article says it's a 5 year plan and IMHO robotics, alternative energy and other technologies are streamlining the industry. Let's face it, when we are not so long dead in 50 or so years there will not be any private automobiles operating as we know it. OK, obviously the antique sector will be there.

I would say its part and parcel of the world financial slowdown , and that recession is just around the corner .
