Workshop and house, Non Sa-At ½ way between KK & Udon
The start of the slow build of Baan P'Nui and Jerome.
So then we started by modelling our ideas in sketchup
The architects first run at the design
This has been modified by lowering the top roof so the windows are a single row and removing some of the workshop windows to give more wall space and making the lower roof one piece.
We were very impressed with the close relationship with our idea. Up to now we have had an excellent relationship with our design team.

Timber floors?

Two questions:
1. What kind of material shall be used for the roofing- concrete roof tiles obviously not, too small an angle.
2. Do I see correcty, that you plan to have at least one car entering the house or workshop?

i take it the stairs led to a room upstairs...
just be careful of to much glass as it gets hotter than concrete.
and is the workshop dual purpose...
my internal garage 1 was to be my workshop but the missus wanted to tile it so visitors would have a place to sleep...turned out a good idea...gives us an extra room or a garage

Sorry for the delay in updates, it has been a very busy time, unfortunately grand mum http://bit.ly/GMnewHouse has died a little over a week ago which has increased the busyness.
2) yes you do. The workshop is designed to be able to take a car so we can lock it inside when we go away
We intend to have low-e laminated IGU's which will reduce the heat gain, also with a 2.5metre overhang on the roof there will be little sun getting to the windows anyway
No they will be tile or maybe pvc in the workshopbluejets wrote:Timber floors?
1) it will be white colourbond with a 1" thick PU foam sprayed insulation from SteelAndSolar Bangkokwaanjai wrote:Two questions:

That was the original design with a two level house but SWMBO decided that one floor is big enoughmaaka wrote:i take it the stairs led to a room upstairs...

Yes it is, it will be an occasional car park.maaka wrote:and is the workshop dual purpose...
As we have a very pink house built for Nui's now deceased grand mother that is available for visitors, or maybe AirBnB that will be unlikely to be needed. At the moment we also have the house we are living in in the next village 800metres away.maaka wrote:my internal garage 1 was to be my workshop but the missus wanted to tile it so visitors would have a place to sleep...turned out a good idea...gives us an extra room or a garage

Looking very good and a very solid build. =D>
You have a very similar floor construction as mine with raised beams and floor panels with concrete floor. I have had no problems with that design and once the house was erected with all the weight of frame, roof, walls etc there was 5 hairline cracks due to settlement, they appeared after 5 months. These were investigated by the engineer and were only max 3mm to 4 mm in depth. All was good and the granite tiles have commenced.
No other movement with settling.
Good luck no the rest of the build.

I'm quite a bit behind on posting here as the main information is going on CoolThaiHouse. We have just been investigating gutters as we want to make sure to direct all the water away from the foundations as we have over 400sqm of roof

Tried to find the software used in your initial photos but not much luck.
I can see initial used house-design 2.6.2 but the arch. drawings seem different.
Any pointers on where one might get the software you used?
Thanks...Jorgo

I never trust anyone in a hard hat who doesn't insist his staff wear one ... maybe he's just saying "now what the ****'s all this" and he needs something to stop him scratching his head ...
Just biased, because the boss of my first builders wore one to show how professional he was, and they were totally useless, with him being the worst of the lot, while the boss of my present lot carries an umbrella instead and he's outstanding!
