I wonder if there will be a postscript.Armstrong opts against appeal
Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong missed the deadline to lodge an appeal over being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for systematic doping, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced.
Armstrong has been wiped from the record books with all of his achivements since August 1998 binned by the International Cycling Union (UCI) after he was accused of being at the heart of sports' biggest ever doping scandal.
The UCI notified the Texan on December 6 that he had until December 27 to appeal his lifetime ban..............

Lance Armstrong. Drug cheat???
Apparently he is going to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey on January 17th.
Not only will it be interesting what he says concerning the doping charges that have been leveled against him but also how he says it.
The strong media rumors are that he will take this opportunity to confess all...
The media surrounding Oprah would not, I think, say anything that was going to dispel any media hype about the event though, would they??

After all this time who really cares, and what will be solved.
Lance Armstrong. Drug cheat???
If you are right MS then there will be zero viewing figures for the show...which I suspect will be far from the truth..
If you find the subject so disinteresting then why do you keep replying saying that no one is interested.

It is news worthy and warrants an elevated subject discussion because it is the most famous bike race and for those who are interested in that sport, which would be in the millions, thay are waiting for an outcome. Either you hope he is innocent or you want to see him fall or you are like me and don't give a fig one way or the other but still listen for the result.
In perspective as to the real newsworthiness of this story outside the main western avenues, just go around Udon today either in a shop or a bar and start the conversation with a Thai saying "what do you think about the Lance Armstrong doping charge", the real scale of it's relevence will be immediately apparent by the look in 99% of Thai's eyes.
By the way I do hate to see a champion fall from grace IMHO

It is also noteworthy that many of the steroid drug cheats in major league baseball - Bonds, Clemens, Sosa and McGuire - did not get elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday despite their great statistics.
Yes, it is true that most people in the world could not care less about Lance Armstrong just as they could not care less who the U.S. chooses as most popular singer, actor, actress and so on, but it seems that people in the west care.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his brain and lungs......survived it and THEN went on to win a string of Tour de France races......not just one or two or three.
Or Floyd Landis who grew up in a Mennonite family in Lancaster, PA.........
You want to believe them when they say they didn't dope........the tests aren't conclusive......and yet after team mates start to open up, it becomes pretty clear that they did dope............so how are you supposed to feel about them then?
All the doping problems over the years has made me skeptical of most any athlete who defies what people consider humanly possible......imagine the poor guy who might come along and whip Usain Bolt silly in a 100m race by breaking 9sec! The guy would be subjected to all sorts of conjecture......of course, he'd deny it.........and even if the medical tests proved negative, who'd believe him?
I always admired Tiger Woods' accomplishments on the golf course.......nerves of steel, a focus more intense than anyone else on the course........he may have been a man-slut off the course, but on the course (as I understand it), there have not been any allegations of whoring around with the rules.

Not quite right there parrot. The are lots of allegations, (unproven), that Woods whoring was a result of him being on steroids, obviously against the rules. Remember how he beefed up very quickly.parrot wrote:I always admired Tiger Woods' accomplishments on the golf course.......nerves of steel, a focus more intense than anyone else on the course........he may have been a man-slut off the course, but on the course (as I understand it), there have not been any allegations of whoring around with the rules.
Will Woods be the next Armstrong?

I always understood that taking steroids reduced s_ex drive, including erectile dysfunction, in males.

I'm no expert jack but i would think if taking testosterone, a steroid used for muscle increase, it would naturally follow that your sexual drive would increase?jackspratt wrote:I always understood that taking steroids reduced s_ex drive, including erectile dysfunction, in males.

Steroids reduce sexual drive and shrink the testicles. Not the other way around.

For some reason on steroids males lose sex drive but apparently its the opposite for women, they turn into wild nymphomaniacs and there cl-t grows to a huge size..............
