A superb 2-1 away win at the once great Pompey ,,,sees Scunthorpes EPL push get back on track ... and also eased the pain of the FA cup defeat to the codheads .

Next up is Rochdale away another lovely place (not)to visit for the masses of loyal traveling Scunny fans ...

That bloody idiot pienmash forgot the big news reference Scunthorpe Utd ...that being the sacking of manager Brian Laws after back to back defeats at Accrington and the final nail in the ciffin was loosing to arch enemies the Codheads .. Russ Wilcox is caretaker and started with a cracking away win at Pompey ...lets hope Mr Swann the chairman can get a decent replacement .. not easy finding any one that wants to move to reside in Scunny tho ..

Seems that being managerless or having Russ Wilcox as caretaker isnt a bad thing for Scunthorpe Utd as they moved into the playoffs with another away win this time at Rochdales Spotland easing out 0 - 4 winners with the home side having 2 players sent off and should have been more ...

Back to back away wins .... a novelty for the Iron but now Laws has departed may be a more regular occurance .. word on the street is he had lost the players and they didnt waana play for him but liked the number two .. Wilcox

The EPL push is well n truly back on track now .

Anybody (Tony?) know what has gone wrong with Coventry?
A month ago they drew AT Wolves and beat Orient (the top two by a mile), but they have lost their last two Home (Sixfields) matches 1 - 5 and 0 - 3 :-k

A win today could see Scunthorpe go joint top of the league ... after back to back away wins and still with caretaker manager Russ Wilcox in charge todays home game against Torquay Utd does offer a good chance of a win ,, another albeit minor fixture is Sarfend home to Chelteham ..

Predictions
Scunny 2 -1 win
Sarfend 3-0 win

Another superb win for Scunny ... 3-1 home to Torquay ... moving nicely into position to take a grip on top spot in the coming weeks ....the EPL push is gaining momentum.

A late late equalizer for Chelts earns a draw and makes it even tighter at the top of the table ...Scunny up to 4th ish

Seems to be a bit of a "trend" developing this season ......

Managerless (at the time) Palace win at Hull a couple of games ago ......

Then last night

Managerless Barnsley (bottom of the Championship) win for the first time in six games AND the first time Away for over 10 months when beating Brighton 2 : 1

AND

Managerless Sheffield Wednesday (Second from bottom in the Championship) beat League leaders Leicester 2 : 1

Suppose it just goes to show how worthless and overpaid football managers actually are

If a player is not "performing" you have to wait till the transfer window to get rid of him, so why aren't managers subject to the "transfer windows" as well. It would stop all this hiring and firing (seven in the last week alone) :-k

And not forgetting (how could we ? ) Scunthorpe United who have won 3 games on the bounce under caretaker manager,Russ Wilcox, since Brian Laws was sacked.
Incidentally,Torquay United are now bottom of League 2 facing the prospect of Conference football next season and are managed by former Scunthorpe legend Alan Knill !
Last night,in the FA Cup,Conference leaders Cambridge United beat League Two Bury 2-1....as Bury are 19th and struggling in the league not really an upset.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

""Managerless clubs""Certainly a strange frunominom but who cares .... in the case of Scunny Utd my inside sauce tells me that previous boss Laws had lost the team and players didnt want to play for him , so loose to the bottom side Acco then the codheads and bingo !! ...Laws is a goner and Russ Wilcox steps in ....the man the players want as he is well liked and respected .... personally i never liked Laws as a player at Forest or a manager .. a thug with a serious attitude problem .

Today sees the second round of the FA Cup and victory for any of the smaller teams left in the competition could see them pitted against Premier League opposition in the next round and the chance of a big pay day.
Sadly, two of our featured teams,Scunthorpe and Cheltenham succumbed in the first round to non league opposition so it is left to little Macclesfield Town to continue flying the flag.
Macclesfield entertain Brackley Town of the Conference North but it wont be easy as Brackley overcame League 1 Gillingham in the last round, after a replay.

Other selected ties.....
Grimsby v Northampton ; Kidderminster v Newport ; Hartlepool v Coventry and Chesterfield v Southend. (playing today)
and tomorrow, two potential giantkillings....Cambridge United v Sheffield United and Tamworth v Bristol City.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

And last nights 2nd round match ....

Port Vale 4 - 1 Salisbury City

That should please an ex Udon Bar owner

Three goals in the last 12 mins sink the non league side.

Macclesfield overcame a brave fightback from Brackley Town, who were two goals down,to win an enthralling tie 3-2 with an 81st minute winner and book their place in the FA Cup 3rd round.
Joining them will be fellow Conference sides,Kidderminster and Grimsby, who beat League opposition,Newport 4-2 and Northampton 2-0 respectively.
And still a chance of 3 more giantkillings....today Cambridge United play Sheffield United and Tamworth entertain Bristol City......Wrexham take on Oxford United on Monday night.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

After the FA cup break its back to grass roots football played with passion ...... the real game , no pre madonnas and over paid prancers n divers ...YES ... its league 2 .. and SCUNTHORPE UTD ... away today to Wycombe Wanderers who have absolutely zero football history or true fans just a few prawn sarnie munchers !!

Russ Wilcox will be looking to add to his 100% winning streak as caretaker manager , just waiting till Ian Holloway or Owen Coyle turn up [-o< .. the EPL push is well n truly on and another away win could see Scunny go top

DM is predicting ...... what else than an away win ... 1 - 2.

Town are home to The Monkey Hangers...
Poor Cheltenham, not a day to go Christmas shopping I think.. :D
The added advantage for the home side is that Hartlepool have a FA Cup game against Coventry on Wednesday..

Draw written all over it :D
