Too lenient in my view. The fine was 65,680 UK Pounds. Pocket money to him.
My Dear Socksby,
I agree that FIFA have been far to lenient. Perhaps an additional ruling that he should be transferred to Everton for a period of not less than one season, would pacify you? :-"
I suppose it couldn't be, (or could it?) that your overheated, vitriolic hatred of Suarez has anything at all to do with the fact that he is a Liverpool player??? [-X [-X [-X ;) ;) ;)   \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
Wouldn't care if he went to Goodison mathusalah, my English team are Newcastle and as a rule only hate that little bastard in the Liverpool team. There are players who some people take an instant dislike to and he is top of my list with Roy Keane and Sergio Ramos in Silver and Bronze position. Will any Spanish team still be interested in him now?

Yes, I understood that Statts. The BBC was, in turn, quoting from the response, made by the FIFA sokeswoman, to a question put to her at the news conference, at which the FIFA verdict was announced.
However, I feel Suarez now has suddenly become a minor player in what is now all about power, commercialism, politics and Nationalism. I shall certainly be following, with great interest during the course of the next 48 hours,, the moves and countermoves among the power factions involved.
Statts. Has not the irony and injustice of the situation whereby the FIFA, very much a body with many vested interests in the outcome, ( and among , if not THE, most corrupt organisations; led by one of, if not THE, most corrupt men, in the World), are sitting in judgement of the morals and behaviour of one young mentally and emotionally troubled footballer, occurred to you?

Mat, while agreeing with your overheated, vitriolic (quote) assessment of FIFA, who else would you suggest should be sitting in judgement, and deciding the penalty which is appropriate for the recidivist Saurez?

Sponsors dropping off the merry go round ASAP

But hey, Tiger Woods came back, after lying low for a few years.

Nothing mentioned about the player bitten and having blood tests for Hep B, C, HIV and perhaps even distemper and rabies unless your a scouser.

OOOps. I really slipped up on that one, Socks!!! But now that you have revived my increasingly inefficient memory, I seem to recall a post or two many months ago, which were even more 'expressive' than your Suarez related posts, (if that were possible!), concerning the feelings of a certain fanatical Newcastle fan, towards the clubs' fine, upstanding and popular owner and also the shrewd and talented Manager:lol:   \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ :D :D :D

I'm hearing different music. I think the penalty is outrageously harsh. If he'd punched an opponent in the head and knocked the opponent out or bit someone in the face, may be this kind of penalty.

He barely touched the guy. Some of the hugs and kisses in the game are more vigorous.

If it had been a first offence GT then may be it would be a bit harsh, but this is the THIRD time ....... after the second Suarez put an apology on his website:-

“I am truly very sorry about the incident with Branislav Ivanovic.

“I hope that all the people who I offended at Anfield last Sunday will grant me forgiveness and I again repeat my apology to Branislav. I would like to explain to everybody that I decided to accept the ban because – while 10 games is clearly greater than those bans given in past cases where players have actually been seriously injured – I acknowledge that my actions were not acceptable on the football pitch.

Not sure where he thinks they are acceptable [-X

AND Rio Ferdinand got an 8 month ban for forgetting to go for a drug test :-"

Just found this from the confed cup last year .......

It appears that Suarez was coming back for "seconds" when he took a munch of the very same Italian defender ....

Klinsman knows what he's doing...playing for a draw...working so far.

Perhaps England could benefit from a foreigner coach...foreigners rule the EPL, afterall.

EEERRRRR RE-THINK !!
EEERRRR RE-THINK what???????????????????

USA marches on, baby.

Re-think what? Are you saying England couldn't benefit from a better coach, regardless of his/her nationality, or are you saying England sucks so bad the coach doesn't matter? Just curious...go USA!!!!!!!!!
EEEERRRR RE - THINK Klinsams tactics of playing for a draw against one of the best teams in the world that part did not come off ..... but well done to the Seppos for progressing from a tough group and playing well to boot ... it should have been all over except for Portuguese equalizer in the 93rd minute against the US .

If the word "sucks" refers to being bad then i agree .. and yes England need a new younger coach and i for one dont give a rats arse where he comes from so long as he gets the team playing well and giving the fans something to cheer , as newcomers to the sport the US seem to have taken the world cup to their hearts with millions tuning in to the games and at least 40 or 50 actually attending in Brazil ,,,well done to those guys .

As ive already stated .. im hoping for an unpredictable NEW winner of the tournament Chile , Belgium , Holland or even America ,,,anyone but Brazil , Argies or the Germans and im a happy monkey ... IMO FIFA are all over a Brazil win and Chile will have to face 13 players tomorrow well 11 the referee and Blatter as if Brazil go out the whole place will go tits up .

Quick mention on Suarez .. regardless of who he is or plays for the 4 MONTHS sentence HAHA and fine is a joke thats loke a 100 bt tip in a restaurant to him , way too soft , its the THIRD SAME OFFENCE ,, if it was Rooney id say the same ... orf with his head !!

ITS ONLY A GAME

Last 16 ties start today .... predictions ...

Brazil to beat Chile ... whatever it takes Brazil will win , im expecting a homer referee bordering on bent , offsides , disallowed goals and penalties given OR not and a Chilean sending off ALL on the menu .

Columbia v Uruguay ... not as easy to call this one , another niggley game for sure lots of the usual cheating diving and life threatening injuries that get better in seconds players trying to get others sent off .. Draw at 90 mins with Columbia to win in Extra time or pens .

The Suarez penalty is a preposterous joke even for a third offence. It was a nothing assault. I'd have given him a 2 match ban. Even that's harsh. It's like poking an opponent in the chest. Not at all dangerous. I think it's a European - South American thing.

FIFA is controlled by corrupt Europeans who have no time for South or North America. The sooner Blatter goes the better. I hope he's replaced by someone not from Europe. Money has totally rogered the game in Europe. It's great to see the American teams doing so well. The balance of power seems to the shifting to the Americas. That said I'd be happy if a team such as the Netherlands win.

But we can all see what is happening. The yanks are getting better each tournament. I doubt England will often finish above the Yanks now as so many young USA ers play soccer. Go Holland.

I don't know for sure Klinsman was playing for a draw, though that would have guaranteed safe passage to the next round, it appeared to me that the US was playing more cautiously in comparison to their previous matches. It appeared to me they weren't pressing as hard offensively and were quite content to focus on defense. Anyway, I could be wrong.

I predict the US will beat Belgium, then lose to Argentina. Argentina will lose to the Netherlands. Nertherlands will lose to Germany in the final match. Germany beats Brazil to get to the final match.

I was impressed with what I saw of Costa Rica and I think they will beat Greece, but I can't see them taking the Netherlands. Netherlands vs. Mexico should be a good one to watch...Netherlands win a close one...3-2.

As far as Suarez is concerned, his punishment was far too lenient given his history. I think a lifetime ban could have been more appropriate. I'm all for giving people second chances, but this guy has proven he simply can't control himself.
