New thread for next season EPL 2015/16

Post by Zidane » August 1, 2015, 8:19 am

Its the curtain raiser to the new EPL season, tomorrow,as Chelsea entertain Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley. These matches are usually pretty low key but it could well be these two sides who are fighting for the EPL title, come next May.
The match is on live on Thai TV.....BBTV Channel 7 at 9pm Thai time.

Heres a quiz from the BBC to decide which EPL football manager you are....just a bit of fun....not really 'Rumours" or "Grass Rooties Footie",so I've put it on here.

I should warn you I was Jose Mourinho  scoring 92 out of 100.....maybe mat80 would be him,as well ? :D

Arsenal 1 Chelsea 0
Arsene Wenger gained his first victory over Jose Mourinho in 14 attempts as Arsenal overcame Chelsea in the FA Community Shield at Wembley, yesterday.
It was a bit of a cagey game with Oxlade-Chamberlains fine finish deciding the contest midway through the first half.
Not too many chances.....Ramires missed one for Chelsea and Santi-Cazorla one for Arsenal near the end,but other than that the goalkeepers were mainly untroubled.
Alexis Sanchez was missing for Arsenal and Diego Costa for Chelsea. On yesterdays evidence Chelsea need to get Costa fit quickly.....the alternatives,Remy and Falcao just dont match up.
For Arsenal,Wenger has to decide between Walcott and Giroud up front.Giroud looked the more effective of the two when he came on as a sub midway through the second half, replacing the subdued Walcott.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

I was actually Gus Poyet & I wanted to keep quiet about that... :D
Still at least I always admired him as a person & a player, if not, maybe as a manager.... :D

I think that you would have to present a very wacky set of answers to come out as vanG...

Premier League: BBC Sport asks 'who will be the champions?'
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33764700

Out of 28 BBC TV and radio pundits, 20 tip Chelsea for the title. 4 go for Arsenal, 3 for ManU (they should be subjected to an immediate drugs test :D ) & 1 for Citi.
Only 1 pundit says that Chelsea will either not win it or come second.

Personally think that it is hard to look past Chelsea winning it. They might struggle if Diego Costa can't be kept fit but they have a great deal of depth to the squad all over the pitch.
The Gunners have certainly improved the squad with the arrival of Cech but I feel that they will struggle as the season goes on with injuries & suspensions. With the first 11 on the pitch they are a match for anyone but (as they have proved season after season) doing that throughout the season is almost impossible...

Will there be bonus points for the amount of possession?
It appears LvG's strategy this season might include overloading midfiled and offering very little creativity.

Talk of Januzaj going to Sunderland. Might as well the only decent 45 minutes he had was at the Stadium of Light

Well, the start of the new EPL season is just 2 days away with the first game being Manchester United v Spurs which kicks off at 6.45pm Thai time.
I've been looking back on some of the predictions we made for last season and here are some of the best..... :D

Manchester United 7-0 L.A. Galaxy... We`re gonna win the league... Svein66
I think it is hard to look past Citi as the winners.....Bob Helm
I would predict Burnley,West Brom and Aston Villa to be relegated....Zidane
Agree with the relegation contenders zid.....pomps
I fancy this to be Chelseas season.....Macca =D>
I am going for Wengers' Arsenal to provide the bitterest pill of all for Maurinho, and his number one supporter to swallow, by finishing above Chelsea in this coming Premiership battle......mat80
Arsenal, Chesea , Man City and Man Utd in that order.....socksy
Come next May..Champions Chelsea..Runners up Arsenal..Man City..Man U..Liverpool not to figure but win the FA cup ..The suprise package SUNDERLAND .....Drunk Monkey
5.Everton 17.Man Utd.....statto
1.chelsea..2.city....fogeyes =D> =D>

Well, for 2015/16 I am going for Arsenal to win the title with Chelsea 2nd,United 3rd and Citeh 4th (I think poor Pellegrini is just keeping the managers seat warm for Guardiola next season)
For relegation....Leicester,Bournemouth and Watford.

But there may be those of you who might disagree..... ;)

Man Utd: David De Gea not the same as last season - Van Gaal
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33816902

De Gea - probably the best goalkeeper in the Premiership last year.
Di Maria - the most expensive signing in the Premiership ever.
Falco - a world class international centre forward.

Just maybe the problem is not with the players, but with a manager who seems to find it impossible to motivate players.
His idea of motivation appears to be to criticise them in the media.
Personally the sooner he goes the better... :(
