555+ I'm surprised there's this thread but udonmap is famous for its cricket tragics; some posters are as bad as John Howard.
I just looked at http://www.espncricinfo.com. I'm surprised there are 3 tests rather than 2. I hope all the players have their golf clubs with them.
The wicked Aussies have the NZers playing in Brisbane and Perth. They would be the two toughest grounds in Oz for visiting teams? Realistically the benchmark for the NZers is the Poms next time they are in Oz. I'd expect a 5 nil whitewash there and a three nil whitewash in the current series. English supporters can be reassured that I expected the Aussies to win in England in the last series.
I'm hoping Myer discover some of the Aussie players aren't wearing Myer clothing and they get kicked off the field so that NZ is chasing this total while the Aussies have only a bowler, wicket-keeper and a couple of fielders.
For non-Aussie and non-Kiwi readers - Australia's most famous horse race is sponsored by Myer (a large clothing store) and they rigorously control what ladies doing official duties wear at the Melbourne Cup, Australia's greatest sporting event that stops 2 nations.

Only the rain can stop the Kiwi's winning this one.
New Zealand RR 2.67
Last 10 ovs 37/1 RR 3.70

A narrow victory,in the end,for Australia by 208 runs.
New Zealand bowled out for 295....skipper McCullum made 80 today but nobody really supported him.

A good warm up match for the new aussie cap't and his new team, especially the first game of the summer. We will build on that and hopefully have a similar result.
Kiwis did end up having a go though.
Well done Australia

First day 2nd test
McCallum loses the toss again and is bowling. Does he call wrong. I assume he gets the call as opposition Capt? Never really thought about who has the toss and call once a series is past the first game.
Any one know?
C'mon Bob have a breather from the other thread? You should know this one?
Is it a bad start for the Kiwis or a good start from Australia, or Warner to be exact.
0/25 after 5 ad warner has 21 of those.
Can the kiwi quicks fight back.

Interesting one that I had never thought about Barney..
I managed to dig this answer out...

The only rule in toss is that in a bilateral series, the host captain flicks the coin while visiting captain calls a side. During multi country tournaments, ICC decides which captain tosses the coin, alternatively.

So the Kiwis are no good at the calling of the toss

Australia already struggling, only making 84-0 off the first 18 overs......

Just looking at the scorecard and only 1 maiden today. Had to scroll back through the commentary to find it was the very first over, now that's not good after 35 overs.

Watching Davy Warner bat the last 4 hours has been a real pleasure.
2/416 in a day is in itself amazing.
David Warner NOT OUT 244

Records going everywhere again.
Lets not get to carried away, its the Kiwis and they might still try to fix it, as Cairns defence sums up next week

Got em by the short and curlies again, how good is Warner, or could you ask how good can he get?, time will tell. We will know when Australia complete the Test series against all the other Cricketing Nations He is certainly one of, if not the fastest scoring Australian batsman I have ever been witness to. DU

The Kiwis going well,at the moment.....currently 236-2 with Williamson on 112 and Taylor on 77.
This in reply to Australias 559-9 dec with Warner scoring 253 and Khawaja 121.
Williamson is currently ranked the no.5 batsman in the world.....could be higher after this series ?

Great counter by the Kiwi's going to lunch 2/249.
The 2 current batsmen are totally in control, but this leads us into what we all say in that the pitch is not known until both teams bat, well, if that's true then this pitch is proving to be not up to scratch and far to docile. I cant see the game but commentary is not advising of any land mines out there.
Records will continue to tumble with these pitches. I'm not saying these guys are not top batsmen but?
Anyway, well done to the Kiwi's and perhaps the pitch will change to get a result.

At the close New Zealand were 510-6 with Taylor 235 not out.....Williamson made 166.
Khawaja will miss the next two Tests with a hamstring injury but is expected to bat in this Test as an emergency if the Aussies need to battle to save the game ! :-"

Wonderful knock by Taylor - disappointing not to see him get 300 but great batting all the same.
Aussies effectively 2-27 with Davy Warner gone early. Should be a draw but you never know - we really need a Dan Vettori or Shane Warne to make it interesting.
