Although it is early days yet there is still some confusion about how the 8 second placed teams will be actually selected - 1 has to be eliminated from the 9 groups.
Originally, at the time of the draw, 2 of the Groups only contained 5 teams.
Hence it was decided that the results achieved against the bottom placed sides in the Groups with 6 teams would not count in deciding the 'points' of the second placed sides.
Since then both Kosovo and Gibraltar have been included, so all Groups contain 6 teams.
However it remains unclear if all results will now count!!
Whatever does count, the ranking of the 2nd. placed sides will be decided by
Highest number of points
Goal difference
Highest number of goals scored
I believe the Scots' squad is announced today...England Sunday..not sure about anyone else... :D

Thailand have qualified for the final qualifying group stages with their 1st game in Saudi on 1/9/16.

Next match is against Japan in BKK on 6/9/16. As I am down there that night, it crossed my mind to go. Has anyone attended an international match? If so, how easy is it to get tickets and where from?

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Michail Antonio (West Ham United), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

Strikers: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City).
Mmm no Rashford but Kane, Vardy & Sturridge all picked... What happened to picking players who were on form (rather than team oldtimers) looks like Big Sam has failed at the first hurdle.
At least his threat of John Terry didn't materialise I guess.. :D

It's very poor not picking Rashford and relying again on those who are experts in failure
I hope Forster and Shaw get there chance,at the very least !

Here are the games this weekend. Another 2 are played early October & then 1 early November & then out to March...
What a terrible 'stop-start' season this is going to be, just when it was starting to look like there would actually be some decent competition for the top spot this year!! :(

For England the way forward has to be the likes of Forster,Shaw,Barkley and Rashford, none of whom featured last night.

Jordan Henderson : Why on earth does he keep getting picked ? He's never International class and just an average Premiership player.
Harry Kane : In Euro 2016 and last night,Harry Redknapp would be more of a threat up front than him.
Wayne Rooney : He's had his day at a top class level for a couple of years now.In his 4 games for Manchester United this season he has been mediocre at best which is a "big improvement" on last season.....plaudits to Jose to making him less appalling !

Excellent results for Northern Ireland and Scotland.....that's why Snodgrass is in my FF team, readers !

What a shame he doesn't get to play against a 9 man Malta team every week in the prem
Of course he would still need to have a pen to convert AND have a keeper that lets miss hit crosses go in each week, but I THINK I can see your reasoning Zid :^o

I'd suggest you PM Svein66. I'm sure he'll be helpful. He told me he was going.

Cheers. Looks like a bar - my days of hanging around outside football grounds long gone! Big game now as both teams lost their opening games - Japan lost at home to UAE suprisingly.

Oh and BTW, I thought England played pretty well last night. Its never easy to dominate a game away from home and Slovakia are no mugs. Stones and Lallana played well and Sterling looked more dangerous than he has for a while in an England shirt. To be fair I was flicking between the tennis, cricket and footie so may have got a false impression!

The tickets was sold out in 90 minutes, with a maximum of 2 tickets pr buyer. All tickets also has the buyer`s name printed on them. Creditcards could only be used on 1 order of max 2 tickets.
On previous games, people could buy up to 4 tickets at a time, not registered on names, and creditcards could be used on several orders.
Now they hope that there won`t be a lot of tickets available outside the stadium, but I`m sure there will be tickets for those who are interested to buy, as people is always looking at ways to make some money.

The Republic were, apparently, a bit lucky to get the draw. I imagine that they will be happy with the point though in what looks like a tricky group for them tp qualify out of.
No such problems for Wales in the same group who swept away the far from mighty Moldova. :D

Some interesting scores there..
Luxembourg score 3 away from home & still lose.
France can't score any...but draw..
European champions Portugal lose by 2 away in Switzerland.
The Faroe Islands hold Hungary to a nil nil draw.

England under 21s are in the European Championship qualifiers.
They were second in their group to Switzerland going into last nights' games, but had played 1 game less.
Last nights' opponents were third placed Norway & England needed a point in order to qualify for the finals.
They did rather better than that as they thumped the visitors 6 - 1.- the 1 being very much a late consolation.
18 year old Marcus Rashford, who was deemed to not have played enough games for United to be included in the full squad over sicknote Sturridge, scored 3, just to prove a bit of a point!! :D

Just to cap the night off nicely, the Swiss could only draw away at bottom of the table Bosnia and Herzegovina.
