England will try hard but it will be the same story as the last 30 years, vlad have you seen the size of the monsters in the aussie team.
But good luck to all teams and I hope the minnows produce some upsets or near upsets. Fatigue will kill most of the smaller nations. The guys who play in the NRL will have the stamina.

Its good to see rugby league on the international stage. ;)

We have got the Burgess Brothers who both play in the NRL and there's nothing big Sam likes its Smashing Aussies. Lets not forget he played a full Grand Final with a fractured eye socket,

England last made the final in 1995 and the last time the English were on the winning side was when Great Britain won in 1972. That was before Thatcher was Prime Minister. 8)

Yes 2014 GF, the head clash was with another Englishman James Graham. Tough nuts to crack that's for sure.
Not sure why burgess twin was omitted.

The strongest will survive. The opening game between England and Australia should be a cracker. And, it could go either way with the poms fired up.
My Nostradamus book says 26/14 to Australia

Even as one of the biggest optimists on the forum I cant see us getting anywhere near the Aussies unfortunately.

Hope I am wrong as it would be nice to win the Rugby world cup in the same 12 months as the cricket ashes and the soccer world cup both of which are inevitable England wins

Well it was closer than I expected at 18-4 to the Aussies with the last 6 points via a late breakaway try when England were pressing to get back in it. Thought we shaded it in the 2nd half!

In reality all it means is that Australia have pretty much already qualified for the final against the winners of a likely England v NZ semi

Watching the opening game when we played the Aussie's whats with the pretend Haka ? on the Cringeworthy factor it scored a 10. It was Embarrassing to sit through it. Do not try to Emulate the Haka it didn't work, it just made you look silly.

Its Aboriginal tradition as the Haka is Maori.

Sure is and looks like we better get used to it as it seems like all the big games are having it, can't say it doe's it for me but in modern Australia with all the PC bunnies I reckon it's there to stay....

I'm tired of all the Samoan - Tongan street fights we've had in NZ before last weekend's game. They should have played that game in Oz rather than Hamilton, NZ.

Yes, silly old Barnaby. For a bit of entertainment, NZ should have dicked him around and taken a few months to accept his renunciation of his NZ citizenship. That would have had Bishop going ballistic.

I see it as an Aussie tournament and principally as a New South Wales and Queensland sport. I understand that there are now heaps of Pacific Islanders in Oz.

There will be one very physical world cup game this weekend in Waikato, ENZED vs Tonga. Couple of teams with some large men. Tonga will be psyched to try and win this one. Supporters will be ready aswell, gloves will be off.
The Ireland and Wales clash should be another bright game with Ireland to prevail in my book.
