He'd struggle to get in the UDFC team on last seasons performances.
Re: English Premier League 2019/20
Man Utd agree 80m for Harry Maguire.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48989647The 26-year-old is expected to complete a medical at the club at the weekend.
He becomes United's third summer signing following Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, who arrived from Crystal Palace and Swansea respectively. Maguire made 69 Premier League appearances for Leicester after joining from Hull City in 2017.
The deal means Maguire becomes the world's most expensive defender, eclipsing the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.

"EVERTON CONFIRM KEAN SIGNING
Moise Kean has signed for Everton from Juventus for an undisclosed fee, agreeing a five-year deal until the end of June 2024.
The 19-year-old Italy international striker is Everton's fifth summer signing after Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Jonas Lossl.
Sky Sports News understands there is no buy back clause in the deal with Juventus. "
I think the last line tells you all you need to know about how highly Juve rate him

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
Most "Toon" news (especially any signings) usually just about makes the "and also today" section on sky ...... we dont do "MARQUIE SIGNINGS" so never have much to talk about
Saint Maximin looks like he could be worth watching if his debut "cameo" v St Etiene was anything to go by.
Looking on the bright side with Rafa gone we wont be "staying in the game for 80 mins" and then trying to win it, with Brucie in charge we will be out of it by the 20 - 30 min mark and can go to bed a lot earlier

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
Manager was NOT sacked ..... he didnt have his contract extended.
Brucie was in the "top three" of their short list which shows just how inept Ashley/Charnley are.
If you would like to check I made about 3 very short posts on UMap in about 6 weeks, my absence had nothing to do with football.
As an aside the "tumoil" has confused many fans with some going to boycott on Sat and some saying they would never not go. The crowd for the St Etiene friendly was less than 17000 a figure I dont ever remember seeing before and amazing for a club who have been the leagues best supported club on 10 separate seasons (only beaten by Man U Everton and Arsenal)

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
They ALL are tam in the same way that a new thread for Sunday Lunch appeared virtually every week even though the establishment concerned has a perfectly good thread of its own that they could all be placed on.
As the Mods didnt seem to care, I thought we could have a new thread for each subthread within the EPL topic.
At least that way we (might) get some useful comments on some of the threads whilst others could just be used for p*sstaking and namecalling

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
With Chairman Levy spending double the odds for the 'special ones' not inconsiderable but not infallible managerial prowess, where will he ever find the dosh to pay for the new talent that he denied Poch?
Probably sell Harry Kane for starters.

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
Poch constantly made mistakes in team selection/substitutions. He was good at providing an entertaining team, but how long does being entertaining last when you never win anything.
I disliked Levy already, and sacking Poch has certainly not made me like the guy any more, but, and its a big BUT, if he is prepared to pay Jose 12m+ a year, and give him money to rebuild, perhaps he and spurs are now ready to join the "Big Boys" and start to Win things (something Poch would not have achieved if he'd stayed another 20 years)

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
According to a report I read this morning Spurs were the most profitable club in the world last year despite the new 1 Billion pound new stadium.
We all know you can do anything with statistics.
Maybe Levy is gambling on Mourinho increasing revenue to make enough money to pay for himself & put Spurs in the big time.
Personally I do not think so.
Mourinho is a mistake his style of Management is finished as he has shown at Man Utd & his last term at Chelsea.

Re: English Premier League 2019/20
It is not Jose's "style" that is finished, he has the tactical awareness to evolve and even change his "style", but unfortunately some football players at some clubs have no respect for any manager or club, and as like any business once you have a "bad egg" polluting the rest of the staff you have to get shot or face the consequenses. Neither Abramovic or Edwards had the "balls" to ditch a top player and got exactly what they deserved
